Olivia dropped onto the bed beside Dylan, her eyes narrowing. "What did I just hear you say?"
Dylan blinked, caught off guard by his own slip. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to, I don't even know how it slipped out. Are you… pissed?" His voice lowered with caution, his eyes frantically searching hers for a reaction.
"Pissed?" She repeated, then let out a soft exhale. "No… but maybe I'm disappointed."
Dylan forced a smile, one that barely masked the sting of regret twisting inside him. He knew he'd said it too soon. She hadn't even told him she loved him yet, and here he was, blurting out a proposal like a fool.
And now, he'd ruined the moment. He could feel it. The subtle shift in her body language told him she wasn't in the mood anymore, at least not for him.
