Valtherion's army stood with their back facing the mountain. He had a thin line of soldiers at the front and another behind them. He had designed this strategy recently, and now he was going to try it. The enemy was around 70,000 strong and radiated a sense of pressure unlike any army, yet at this moment, the Mograine army matched it. Dain was on the left flank, while Luther was on the right one. Brandon would lead the cavalry charge when needed.
Seviras's legion advanced slowly towards the enemy. There was no rush; the mountain would cut their way of retreat...yet suddenly, they accelerated. Valtherion's positioning forced them to have a confrontation, unlike his usual tactics.
Just before collision, the Mograine soldiers on the first line threw Caltrops on the ground, as far as they could, as well as in front of their feet. The charging enemies did not suspect anything, as the wind blew in their direction. Valtherion had positioned himself properly. Instead of using a direct approach, he had made the enemy get out of the city and turn around to face him, allowing him to find the perfect spot and position both armies where he wanted.
The Caltrops that Valtherion had designed were smaller but easier to spread. If there was anything fatal, it was the quality of the materials and the biology of the cavalry. Horses had keratin shells, thick and hard. Worgs had soft paws, yet they compensated for that with their sharp teeth; however, this time, their sharp teeth would not reach anything. To top that, a volley of arrows flew as well, maximising the damage.
A devastating scene occurred as the charging worgs whimpered and fell one after another, causing those behind them to follow...Yet Seviras charged forward, regardless of his crippled cavalry.
It was a sharp contrast in their style of fighting. Valtherion was tactical, strategical while Seviras, he was powerful and direct, crushing enemies with pure power.
The infantry collided, with the orcs and dark elves taking advantage due to Valtherion's thin lines, yet it was fine. He called for retreat. The horde pushed; he retreated, line after line, deeper into the mountain, the forest of the unknown.
"Now!" Valtherion shouted as the enemy was already deep within. Suddenly the lines thickened as more infantry popped up from behind. The lines were thin but extended; with every retreat, he had pulled the enemy deeper and deeper, wrapping them in a circle, and now his additional infantry joined. Dain and Luther led cavalry charges on the flanks.
The enemy had more experts, but now they were being slaughtered by sheer tactical advantage. Still, the fight was going on as this was one elite army against another. The result could be said to have been decided already, yet there was one missing detail - Seviras. He was leading men towards the centre and would soon break through.
Valtherion now had one goal - stall him; his army would win and slaughter his, and after that it was Seviras against a few thousand humans, as well as Luther and Dain.
Turning around, Valtherion climbed further up the mountain as he put his helmet on; then he sharply turned around and sped up. Jumping in the air, with his spear in hand, Valtherion used all of his energy as he directed his fall towards Seviras.
"SEVIRAS!"
"VALTHERION!"
'CLANG'
A massive collision was heard as the dust beneath Seviras's legs exploded like ripples. Soldiers on both sides were pushed away. Valtherion had struck Seviras; however, the half-dragon had put his spear up in the air, holding its ends with two hands, causing the strike to land on the shaft.
The wind rolled with tiny explosions caused by the fluttering of Seviras's torn robes, akin to a whip. Valtherion's eyes glowed in a silver light as he faced Seviras, whose feet were stuck in the mud.
Not willing to let the dragonborn unstuck himself, Valtherion assaulted him. Shock spread through Seviras's body as he realised that Valtherion was strong - physically stronger than his sons, but not stronger than him.
Deflect after deflect resounded as Valtherion attacked while Seviras blocked, until experience displayed its effect. Valtherion's spear was deflected by Seviras's own spear; however, they were too close. Seviras's hand shot out in a slap, which Valtherion dodged; however, it soon came back in a reverse slap, sending his helmet flying away with a stream of blood.
It was enough time for him to unstuck his feet, but Seviras was not done; both spears had been wedged into the ground, thus a hand thrust flew in his direction. It seemed like it had entered through his heart, as Valtherion took heavy steps backwards, dragging Seviras with him.
--------------
Morgana was weeping, but she did not allow Ahri to turn off the channel. It seemed like the women were fighting while crying, as Juliet embraced both of them. Tears were streaming down her eyes as both women's hearts broke when they saw Seviras's fingers penetrate his heart.
---------------
"No!!! My son!" Louis screamed as Thomas held him from falling. It was unknown where they were; however, both men had tears in their eyes. Louis's legs were giving in as his brother held him. The once cripple was now holding up his last family member, even as his heart broke inside and tears flowed from his eyes... yet both men stared at the screen.
----------------
Valtherion backed up, dragging Seviras with him before straightening his back suddenly, with all the power he could muster. The hand did not pass through the heart; it went under his armpit and stuck itself in his cape, leaving a good opportunity for Valtherion to punish this.
Using all of his strength and qi, his eyes shone with silver light as the wind rose around him. Pulling Seviras with his left arm, Valtherion gripped, causing the dragonborn's hand to be locked and tightened like a rope. Cracking sounds were heard, yet he was not done; he could do more than dislocate a shoulder.
A palm shot towards Seviras's face, landing on his forehead. One after another. Valtherion had understood during their exchange that he could not win this fight by fighting hardness with hardness. He had to utilise his palms, the softness of them against Seviras's body.
The palms were just a means to an end; what he wanted was to knock him out. Rattle his brains before giving him an actual hit, yet Seviras did not still. Even with unstable footing, he was punching Valtherion's body and sending pieces of blood and armour flying.
Dust and stone were flying, hard enough to knock a man out, yet all they took was light steps as they traded blows. By now, Valtherion was almost stripped of his armour, and he was wholly covered in his own blood, while Seviras was bleeding from his ears and nose.
Throwing a punch, Seviras felt Valtherion almost fly away, yet he did not. He managed to take it and was now facing him, silver flames in his eyes as he got closer and rammed his head into his.
It was not a knock-out; however, Seviras fell, grunting in pain as one of his horns was snapped in half, black blood seeping into the ground and causing sizzling sounds. Valtherion stood in front of him, half of his chest out and riddled with wounds.
The fighting around them was in its peak, yet around them there was no one, as everyone was keeping their distance. Seviras did not stay on the ground as he used a movement technique, his body appearing next to Valtherion as hand-to-hand combat unravelled once again.
