Chapter 1 - (01) The Ninja Gamer Jin Raien

"First on my list, Jin. You shall be the one to battle the God of Life and his followers in this war. Grow fast."

----

Konoha Central Orphanage

The sun shone brightly above Konoha's orphanage, as children played loudly with each other in the playground.

Out of the orphanage's kitchen, an old woman looked at the bustling kids with a soft smile, followed by a helpless sigh. Her name was Yasue Kanase, the owner of the orphanage and the caretaker for all of these children. She had lived through two Great Ninja Wars, and as a result of them ended up orphaned herself, and for the most part had to learn to survive by herself. It was because of that reason precisely, she took up the role of the caretaker and opened this orphanage. She wanted orphans to feel a sense of support, a sense of belonging, a sense of love.

Although Kanase thoroughly enjoyed taking care of these children and tutoring them, the fact that the number of orphan's only seemed to increase year by year truly saddened her heart. As contradicting as it was, she dreamed of a world where orphanages did not need to exist, where children would not have to suffer the pain of losing their parents.

A small smile resurfaced on her faced as she watched over the children playing in the sunlight. A rare sight of innocence and bliss, in this world of murder and war. Her eyes finally stopped on a child in the distance, away from his peers. Striking jet black hair, fair and smooth skin, and eyes the colour of amethyst. Behind that childish appearance, was a deep gaze, almost unsettling, as if he was all knowing. He sat on top of one of the branches on a tree, twirling a wooden kunai in his hands as he seemed lost in thought.

Jin.

His sixth birthday was coming up soon, yet his actions seemed to betray his age. He was far more mature than the other children, often offering to help out whenever he could, and for that Kanase was proud of him. A kind hearted boy who thinks smarter than others his age. Though, some sadness couldn't help but pass through her as she thought of the child.

He aspired to become a ninja, and he certainly had the talent to become one too. Although he had no previous ninja background and no resources or support, Kanase would honestly say his talent matched even those from the Shinobi clans.

In her years though, Kanase had seen others like him, talented children who could become great Shinobi, yet they never met a good end. Simply because of background and status. She wasn't going to stop anyone from pursuing their dreams, but that didn't mean she wouldn't worry about his future. At the end all she could do was hope that he would be outlier.

The orphan in question, seemingly staring mindlessly into space however, had a secret. He was reborn into this world, he knew everything that would happen in the future, and he was determined to become a key figure. He had no noble bloodline, no game changing background, or any background advantages. Just his own talent and guts. Well that was until now at least.

[Welcome to the Gamer System!]

[You can start by calling out menu!]

'Well isn't this interesting...'

A small grin spread across Jim's face as he observed the holographic blue text box in front of him. After five years in this Ninja world this 'Gamer System' suddenly pops out of the blue. Excitedly, he did as he was told.

'Menu'

[Gamer Menu:]

[Status]

[Skills]

[Quests]

[Map]

'Hmm, there really isn't any hand holding when it comes to this system thing huh? No explanatation's on what these things do or mean'

After a moment of contemplation, Jin decided that the best option here would be to go through the menu screens in order.

'Status'

[Status]

[Name: Jin]

[Level: 1 (EXP: 0/100)]

[Title: None]

[Chakra: 270/270]

[Vitality: 15]

[Strength: 9]

[Dexterity: 13]

[Endurance: 10]

[Spirit: 18]

[Chakra Control: 21%]

[Free Stat Points: 0]

Reading the overload of information that popped up in front of him, Jin couldn't help but feel overwhelmed.

'Alright so clearly this is a sort of stats page. Showing me my physical stats and what not.

Some of these are self explanatory. Vitality should be my overall health, energy and what not. Strength is quite literally how strong I am. Dexterity I'm assuming is a combination of my speed and agility. And finally Endurance is basically my stamina.

When it comes to Spirit, I have no clue at the moment as to what it is, or why it's my highest stat.

Ofcourse chakra control makes sense, one of the first things I did after gaining control of my body was awaken my Chakra and practice the Leaf Concentration exercise.

I wonder how my overall Chakra is scaled though...'

Deciding to leave what he couldn't figure out aside for now, Jin hurriedly opened the next menu going down the list.

'Skills'

[Skills]

[Basic Kunai Mastery - Level 5 (78%)]

{You have basic mastery over the Kunai,

10% Extra Accuracy and Damage when throwing the Kunai

10% Damage when wielding the Kunai as a melee weapon}

...

...

...

'Wow, that's literally my only skill... kind of disappointing...', Jin deadpanned at the screen.

Moving on to the final two screens Jin saw that his Quests menu remained empty.

[Quests]

[No current quests]

Finally as he brought the map up a flicker of surprise showed on his face. A holographic map appeared in front of him, filled with green dots. If he focused on these dots a name would appear on top of it. And a flickering blue dot represented him. Besides that he found he could also zoom in and out of the map.

'Let's test something out..'

Jin zoomed out as far as he could and eventually the map had showed him the entire world he was currently living in. The countries could be differentiated and each notable spot had a name above it.

'The map feature is pretty overpowered, I could use this on assassination missions or stealth missions if I ever get assigned one of those.'

The familiar voice of an old lady snapped Jin out of his thoughts soon enough, as he looked down at Kanase who approached him.

"Jin, do you think you can do me a favour and run to the store to buy some ingridients? We're running low."

Just as Jin was about to reply a screen popped up in front of his eyes and interrupted him.

[Quest: Purchase Ingridients for Kanase!

Rewards: +25 EXP, + 1 Favouribility to Kanase, +Kanase Questline

Failure/Denial: -1 Favouribility to Kanase]

A small smile formed on Jin's face as he jumped down from the tree he was sitting on.

"Ofcourse I can Miss Kanase."

[Quest Accepted]

Those words seemed to bring joy to Kanase as she pulled out a stack of bills and put them in Jin's hands.

"I need you 6 packets of rice, a loaf of bread and a pack of eggs. There'll be some money leftover so make sure to buy yourself a nice snack okay?"

Jin looked at the money in his hand then looked at the old orphanage caretaker and gave her a genuine smile. He didn't remember her being mentioned in the original story but in a crazy world such as this one finding a kind heart like hers was rare and Jin always remembered to repay his debts tenfold.

"Thank you miss Kanase"

With a respectful nod to his carer, Jin set off and Kanase couldn't help but watch his retreating figure with a smile on her face.

'What a respectful boy'

---

"That'll be 790 Ryo please young man", a middle aged man gave Jin a warm smile as he bagged his items.

Nodding, he pulled out 800 Ryo and handed it to the store owner while taking his bag of shopping.

"Keep the change sir",

The man gave him a smile and a simple thank you as Jin left the store and began making his way back. His mind zoned out as he fell into a train of his own thoughts. Worries filled his mind, as he recollected the future events that would eventually take place. Jin wasn't sure exactly what era of Konoha he was in, but he did have a rough estimate.

Currently only three faces were carved into Hokage Mountain, Minato had yet to be appointed as Hokage, but he was definitely close to becoming it.

The third great Ninja War was ongoing, but it was nearing its end from the rumours that Jin managed to pick up, and Konoha were all but singing praises of the Yellow Flash and his achievements in war. Some even saying this war was only won because they had him on their side.

To others it brought happiness but Jin knew that not far off into the future, the disaster of the nine tails attack would happen. And Jin didn't know if he had enough time to get strong enough and survive.

His eyes steeled as he reached the orphanage and determination courses through him.

'No, I will survive it. I'll make sure of it.'

The sound of the Kitchen door opening, caught Kanase's attention, as she looked at the young orphan in surprise.

"You're already back? That was fast."

Jin handed over her bag as she went through it double checking he got everything she asked of him. And needless to say he did.

"Thank's Jin, you've been a great help to me", she patted the boys head with a warm smile on her face.

[Quest Complete: +25 EXP, +1 Favouribility]

Giving Kanase a respectful nod, Jin said his goodbyes and left the kitchen and went into his room to grab a couple of things, mainly his bag in which he put a few snacks and waters.

He found an open letter on the side of his bed which had told him he was accepted into the Ninja Academy.

'The Ninja Academy starts in about a month, from what I remember it was pretty useless, so as soon as I can I'm graduating.

I'm going to use this month to get as strong as I can. The Plan is become top student, then graduate.'

[Quest! Pass the Academy entrance exam as the first place!

Rewards: Title: Prodigy, +1000 EXP, + Random D- Rank Jutsu

Failure: None]

[Quest! Become the youngest person to ever graduate!

Rewards: Title: Konoha's Future, +4000 EXP, +Random B- Rank Jutsu]

A grin spread across Jin's face.
