Liam's point of view
I glanced sideways at Vanessa, waiting for her to take the initiative and answer her brother. But she still seemed too lost in her own thoughts to say anything.
What was I supposed to do in that situation?
I wasn't sure, but staying silent didn't feel like the right choice. So, I cleared my throat and began to speak.
"I'm a business partner," I said, since introducing myself as just an employee didn't seem like a good idea.
"For now, you could say we're close colleagues. Though, admittedly, there has been a one-sided effort on my part to make our relationship more intimate.."
After saying that, I stepped closer to Vanessa and gently placed my hand on her shoulder, hoping the touch might help calm her down.
My joking words clearly shocked the three people staring at me. Vanessa's parents, in particular, looked stunned.
I probably wasn't making the best first impression in the world by acting that way, but it didn't matter.
