"No! I didn't mean it like that!" Lexi shot to her feet, clearly panicking. "I didn't mean to disrespect you or anything."
"Really?" I glared at her. "Either way, I don't want to hear anything from you. So do me a favor and leave me alone."
"Okay…" she said, quieter now. "I will leave you alone. But just… listen to me one last time."
I clenched my jaw. She was persistent, and honestly, it was getting on my nerves. Still, I didn't want to come off as completely cold. So fine—let her speak.
"You have ten minutes."
"Sure." Lexi sat back down. "That's more than enough for me."
She closed her eyes and took a breath like she was trying to calm herself.
"I know you probably think I'm weird or… whatever. But just like Elijah, I was forced into this marriage, too. And he—he still loves you."
