Ilarion's smile was a little too knowing, but he gave a simple nod. "Of course. If you are willing. I do enjoy your company."
She didn't want to be rude. She couldn't be. Not really. Not with this man.
And she couldn't deny that.
Being a fake princess was a difficult job, but one that came with a few benefits. At least, it did until Donncahd had his way.
Right now, this was one of them.
It was nice to have someone to talk to. Even if it was a stranger who would one day be a broken shell of the man she was seeing now. And that thought was too depressing, so she tried to ignore it.
It was a conversation, anyway, with someone who wasn't actively trying to kill her, and that was a rare treat.

He took her hand and bowed over it, brushing his lips against her knuckles in a gesture she hadn't experienced. Even if she, it was rare enough she couldn't remember it.
