"...And that. Is how we will go to the garden. Right, my dear?"
The goat at her side bleated softly, letting his face lean into her skirts.
"Yes. Exactly." She said it in a firm, but kind, voice, as if the baby goat's sound was more than enough agreement for her to continue her plan. She stroked down the top of his little horn stubs.
He was so small that they were just beginning to sprout on the crown of his head, and his fur was soft and warm. A bit scratchy, too. But he loved the scritching she was doing so much she could never tell him no.
She loved her Darrach.
She really didn't have anything or anyone in this world. Little Darrach somehow was one of the - if not the only - things she had.
"Are you excited to see the garden, little one?" She murmured, smiling down at him as she walked.
And walked...
...and walked a bit longer. Slowly. Step, by step, by...
