Chapter 63 - Unreconciled star part 5

The group pressed forward, following the path indicated by Scaramouche. As they approached the area near Wangshu Inn, they noticed several meteorites scattered across the landscape. Aether's keen senses detected a faint, otherworldly hum emanating from one of them.

"Over there," Aether gestured, leading the group toward the source of the hum. As they drew closer, they found Ben, one of the missing merchants, unconscious beside a meteorite. His breathing was shallow, and he appeared to be in a deep sleep.

Mona knelt beside Ben, her expression serious. "He's been affected by the meteorite's influence," she observed. "This sleep isn't natural."

Fischl stepped forward, her eyes scanning the surroundings. "We must remain vigilant," she warned. "Such phenomena are often accompanied by unforeseen dangers."

Suddenly, the ground trembled, and shadowy figures emerged from the nearby forest. Monsters, drawn to the meteorite's energy, advanced toward the group.

Aether swiftly notched an arrow to his bow, preparing to defend. "Stay close," he instructed. "We'll handle these creatures."

The battle was intense but brief. With coordinated efforts, the group dispatched the monsters, their forms dissipating into the ether as they fell.

After the skirmish, Aether turned his attention back to Ben. "We need to get him back to Mondstadt," he said. "He'll be safe there."

As they prepared to transport Ben, Paimon voiced a concern that had been lingering in her mind. "Do you think Wanderer was telling the truth?" she asked. "He seemed to know exactly where Ben was."

Aether frowned, his thoughts mirroring Paimon's. "I don't know," he admitted. "But for now, our priority is getting Ben to safety."

"Hey, what is going on here?".

They turned their heads to see where the voice came from; it was Millelith Guard, leading then was a woman; she had long lavender hair that faded into pale blue at the tips styled in two buns resembling cat ears. Her eyes are pink with diamond-shaped pupils, and she has a sharp gold barrette on the right side of her head with a white flower and a small round gold piece on the left side. Her earrings are teal and flower-shaped. Her dress is white at the top with a thick, dark blue piece of fabric around its side adorned by a large gold piece, purple feathers, a single golden feather and white flowers on it. Her royal blue skirt is ruffled, and she has a plum-purple overcoat. Her blue sleeves are held by gold armour-like arm cuffs and are frilly with dark blue bows above them, as well as being much longer around the bottoms with feather patterns identical to the one on her dress

[Insert Image of Keqing]

Keqing looked at the group as she spoke. "Don't you know that this place is off-limits? Tell me your reason.

Aether looked as he waved his arms. "Wow lady, we are not doing anything wrong here, we just found one of the people we are looking for knocked out"

Keqing looked at them as she narrowed her eyes. "How so?"

Fritz then spoke. "I-it is because of the Meteoroid".

Hearing that Keqing stopped and looked as she sighed. "I see, why don't you take to the inn to rest".

One of the guards then spoke. "We have set up so that anyone affected by the Meteoroid can rest while we find a cure".

Keqing gave a quick nod, her expression softening slightly as she turned to her guards. "Ensure the safety of the people affected by the meteoroid. We can't afford to lose any more of them."

The guard acknowledged her order and motioned for the group to follow. Aether, Mona, Fischl, and Paimon exchanged looks before nodding, deciding it was best to comply for now. They carefully lifted Ben, making sure he was secure as they followed the guards towards Wangshu Inn.

As they walked, Keqing fell into step beside them. "You seem like travelers with a purpose. Tell me, what brings you to Liyue? This is a dangerous time, especially with these meteorites falling from the sky. Many have already fallen, and their influence is spreading faster than we can contain."

Aether glanced at her, still curious about her sharp demeanor but also sensing a deep concern for the people of Liyue. "We're here looking for answers, just like everyone else. We've encountered strange phenomena caused by these meteoroids, and we're trying to stop the damage it's causing. We've already seen the effects they have on people."

Keqing's gaze softened slightly as she looked ahead, her pink eyes flashing with determination. "You're not wrong. This isn't just a random event. The meteoroids seem to be connected to something larger, something dangerous. That's why we've been taking every measure we can to protect the people and find out more."

Fischl, ever the eccentric, spoke up, her voice tinged with curiosity. "What do you mean by 'something larger'? Could these meteoroids be connected to some grander plan or entity?"

Keqing turned to Fischl, her expression thoughtful. "I don't know yet, but there are whispers among the people that these meteoroids aren't natural. Some say they're being controlled by an unseen force, something beyond our comprehension. But these are only rumors for now. All I know is that we need to find the source of this disaster before it spreads further."

Mona crossed her arms, her eyes narrowed as she added, "And we don't have time to waste. If these meteoroids are connected to a bigger threat, the sooner we act, the better."

The group arrived at Wangshu Inn shortly after, and Keqing gave a final order to her guards to ensure Ben was settled in a safe room. "Get him the proper treatment and monitor his condition," she instructed.

"Thank you, Keqing," Aether said with a nod of gratitude, though he was still troubled by the uncertainty surrounding these meteoroids and their effects.

Keqing waved him off. "It's no trouble. I would do the same for any person in need." She paused, looking over the group with a slightly more relaxed expression. "I'll keep you updated on anything new regarding the meteoroids. If you discover anything about them, don't hesitate to report it."

With that, she turned and walked away, leaving the group to rest in the inn, but Aether couldn't shake the feeling that the answer they were looking for was much closer than they thought — and it would likely involve more danger than they were prepared for.

"Alright, let's take a moment to rest," Aether said, looking to his companions. "We've got a lot of work ahead of us, and who knows what we'll face next."

Paimon, ever the optimist, chimed in with her usual enthusiasm. "Right! Let's get some rest so we can take on whatever comes next with full energy! But, uh, do you think we'll find out what's really going on with those meteoroids?"

Aether wasn't sure, but he knew one thing: whatever it was, it was just beginning to unfold.

The next morning had arrived, as everyone had woke up

Aether looked at Keqing as he spoke. "Um quick question, can I ask to send a letter".

Keqing looked at her guards as she spoke. "Yes, what is it".

Aether then spoke. "I wanna send this to Diluc, the owner of the Dawn Winery. Ben and Fritz are his workers that he told us to look for".

Keqing nodded as she spoke. "Very well, but I have a quest. Has Mondstadt found a cure for this Meteorite sleep, which we are calling the forever dream".

Mona then spoke looking at her. "Yes, destroying them seems to be able to wake the people sleeping up".

Keqing nodded thoughtfully as she processed Mona's explanation. "I see… So the meteoroids themselves are the source of the affliction. That's troubling. If destroying them causes the 'forever dream' to end, then we need to be more strategic about how we handle them."

Aether handed her the letter, and Keqing took it with a polite nod. "I will send this to Diluc as requested. His winery is well-known, so I'm sure he'll receive the message promptly."

As Keqing walked away to take care of the letter, Aether turned to Mona. "So, you think the meteoroids are being used as a way to put people into this 'forever dream'? If that's the case, there must be a deeper purpose to it, right?"

Mona, ever the researcher, crossed her arms as she looked at the group. "It's likely. Someone must be behind the meteoroids' effects. We need to find out who's causing this, and why. If the only solution is to destroy them, that's not a long-term fix. It's just a temporary measure."

Fischl, who had been silent for a while, spoke up with a dark tone. "Yes, I agree. These meteoroids could be a part of something much larger, a plan that is unfolding as we speak. Whoever is behind it is pulling the strings, and we're just a small part of their game."

Aether looked at the group, determination growing in his chest. "We'll find them. We've faced worse before, and we can't let Liyue or Mondstadt fall to whatever this is. If destroying the meteoroids helps wake people, then that's what we'll do, but we need to get to the source of it."

Just as he finished speaking, a voice from behind them interrupted.

"You plan to fight something even bigger than the meteoroids, I take it?"

Turning around, they saw a familiar face: Keqing, who had returned after sending the letter. She was now joined by a few Millelith guards.

"The meteoroids are only part of the issue," Keqing continued, her voice serious. "We're facing a larger threat, one that the people of Liyue aren't prepared for. We don't know the full extent of it yet, but we're doing everything we can to uncover the truth. If you're going to continue this investigation, you may want to work with the Millelith directly. We need all the help we can get."

Aether nodded, meeting her gaze. "We're in. We'll do whatever it takes to stop this from spreading."

Mona raised an eyebrow, her lips curling into a small smile. "Looks like we're officially allies now, huh? I don't mind working alongside the Millelith. As long as we all stay focused on the goal."

Keqing gave a small nod. "We'll coordinate efforts. In the meantime, I suggest you take some time to prepare. If you plan to destroy the meteoroids, you'll need better equipment and support. Liyue has some of the best blacksmiths in Teyvat. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."

Paimon floated excitedly in the air. "Wow, looks like we've got a whole new team now! Let's get ready and show these meteoroids what we're made of!"

Aether smiled, his resolve growing stronger. "Let's do this. We'll need all the help we can get."

With that, the group began their preparations, knowing that the journey ahead would be a long and difficult one. But with the resources of Mondstadt and Liyue, and their newfound alliance with the Millelith, they were more determined than ever to find the source of the meteoroids and put an end to the mysterious and dangerous threat before it could take any more lives.

Keqing then told and took them to a location where one of the new Meteorites had arrived; as they arrived at the area, they saw the Fautie was investigating it as well.

Paimon then spoke kicking the air. "Paimon knew it, the Fautie is behind it".

Aether stopped Paimon as he spoke. "I don't think so, but let me do something".

Aether pulled out his Golden Bow from his storage space he pulled on the string as he was ready to fire the bow.

Ding!

[ skill: (Archer, this skill boboostsour attacks when it comes to using your bow and anything shot from a long distance like magic and even guns and even things like Rock for example, each of these is covered by a golden light and has a high chance to start the 1 million times crit effect for the host) Actived]

Aether only pulled the bow halfway, only because he knew if he pulled fully he had zero idea what damages will it be, as it let the distraction go

Ding!

[1 million Crit effect activated].

As Aether loosed the arrow, it shimmered with a golden light before streaking through the air like a comet. The sheer force of the shot caused a shockwave, rustling leaves and kicking up dust as it rocketed toward the meteorite.

The moment the arrow struck—

BOOM!

The impact was catastrophic. Aether had intentionally held back, but even so, the sheer power of the 1 Million Crit Effect triggered an explosion that shook the ground beneath them. The meteorite cracked instantly, golden light surging through its fractures before it imploded into dust.

The Fatui agents nearby were caught completely off guard, some stumbling backward while others shielded their eyes from the sudden burst of energy.

One of them, a woman dressed in a modified Fatui Skirmisher uniform, narrowed her eyes and immediately stepped forward. "Tch. Who in the world—?" She then saw Aether standing there, bow still raised, the golden glow fading.

Paimon, hovering by Aether's side, pumped her fists. "Hah! That's what you get, stupid rock! Paimon bets even Celestia felt that one!"

Keqing, standing beside them, let out an exasperated sigh as she examined the crater left behind. "I thought you were just trying to test something, not turn the whole battlefield into rubble."

Mona sighed dramatically, placing a hand on her forehead. "Well, at least we confirmed one thing: destroying the meteorites does work. Maybe a little too well."

The Fatui woman, regaining her composure, walked toward them with two other agents in tow. "Traveler," she said coolly, "I would appreciate it if you refrained from launching surprise attacks while we're conducting our own investigation."

Aether lowered his bow, meeting her gaze. "I wasn't attacking you. I was confirming something. And from the looks of it, you were already here before us. What exactly are the Fatui doing investigating these meteorites?"

The woman smirked slightly, folding her arms. "That's classified information."

Paimon crossed her arms. "Hah! Paimon knew it! The Fatui are behind this!"

Keqing narrowed her eyes. "If you're not responsible for the meteors, then why is the Fatui so interested in them?"

The Fatui agent chuckled. "Simple. These meteorites contain an energy signature unlike anything we've seen before. It's an anomaly, and anomalies tend to attract certain kinds of people." She gave Aether a knowing glance before continuing. "We're just as curious as you are. But unlike you, we prefer to analyze before we destroy."

Aether clenched his fists slightly, not liking the implications of her words. But before he could respond—

Ding!

[New Event Detected: A massive surge of meteorite energy is forming nearby. High threat level. Multiple unknown forces converging.]

Mona's expression darkened as she suddenly raised a hand to her forehead. "Wait… I can sense something. A new meteorite… but this one is different. It's pulsating with energy, like it's—"

Rumble…

The ground beneath them trembled. In the distance, the sky began to darken, and a deep red glow emanated from behind a mountain ridge. Aether instinctively reached for his bow again.

The Fatui agent smiled. "Looks like your little test wasn't the only thing that made an impact. Something… bigger just woke up."

Keqing immediately turned to her guards. "Alert Liyue Harbor. We need reinforcements now."

Aether exhaled, gripping his weapon tightly. "Looks like we're not done here."

As the tension thickened, the group prepared themselves for whatever was coming next. Whatever was behind these meteorites… was finally making its move.
