Chapter 104 - The Fermi’s paradox

The Fermi Paradox is the apparent contradiction between the high probability that alien civilizations exist and the complete lack of evidence for them.

"I'm sorry, please don't be scared," said Bambi—less said and more thought.

That thought reached into Dante's mind. Piercing deep inside as easy as a spear into paper. It echoed, echoed deep inside of him, ringing in his ear. Inside the walls. Inside the floor. His mind spun, the world spun, as he tried to hold it all together.

"W-well, ain't that freaky," said Dante, nausea taking over him.

"Yeah, you feeling that? That's the fear of death," said Two Fangs.

"Well, what's your paradox, weird guy?" asked Dante, backing up.

"The Fer—" said Bambi.

"Shut it," Two Fangs cut him off, looking over at Bambi.

"Sorry," replied Bambi.

"Now take care of him while I go find that nosy girl," said Two Fangs as a giant man with bulky muscles walked out through the vines.

"This is bad. I need to take him out," thought Dante. He sped towards Two Fangs—then, just as fast, he disappeared.

"Sorry, can't hurt him," Bambi's voice echoed.

"Dante! Are you okay?" said a voice—Sarah's—in his mind.

"Voice. Interesting. How come voice?" said Bambi. "Friendship paradox, yes. Needed you will be," said Bambi. "Not now, till we st—" Before Bambi could finish, Dante pushed through the fear, through the nausea. He rushed towards Bambi and threw a punch—stopping mid-air before it could reach his face.

"What the hell?" said Dante out loud. With a raise of Bambi's finger, it cracked like tree bark. Dante was flung back towards the brute of a man, slamming into his side.

"Why couldn't I hit him?" Dante thought.

"I have a psychic field. You can't harm me," said Bambi.

The giant man with his scarlet Romanian armor stood in front of Dante. Quickly, Dante ran up to the man—and just as quickly, got flung back to the wall. He was pressed against the wall, unable to move his body.

"I'm... stuck," the thought barely slipped out of Dante's mind. His body was glued to the wall, his muscles pressed by an invisible force.

"Dante, are you okay?" questioned Sarah.

"Get Axe!!!" Dante's mind screamed.

"No more. Leave us be," said Bambi as paradox energy went into his mind. He then saw it—the strings attached to Dante as energy formed into a scissor. Then SNAP! Cutting them off.

"This guy is dangerously powerful. He must be a four-star," thought Dante.

The giant Goliath walked up and swung his fist at Dante. Quickly, he reinforced his body as he got pummeled. Punch after punch, the wall began to crack. Then the wall began to grow vines, wrapping around his arms and waist.

"Did you shall not you can get out," spoke Bambi, the voice pounding in his head. "I need you. The world needs you," said Bambi, ringing out like a microphone in an abandoned house.

"H-how do I—" Then it clicked for Dante. He saw his left pinky moving rapidly without him thinking.

Math flooded his brain. An image of him moving quick enough to break the vines, then still images as if slideshows capturing each second of his movement—from snapping the man's neck to moving each step until he was right in front of the alien. Then he did it again, stacking the images on top of each other. Then again, then again, then again and again.

"Knowledge to be faster. You're danger," the house spoke for Bambi.

Then Dante's fingers vibrated, then his hands, then his arms. Stacking the images on top of each other of where he was standing, building up speed as he received blow after blow at full force. Moving so fast in place, he quickly burned through the vines. In a split second—no, even shorter—he snapped the creature's neck as he walked to the alien.

Vines reached out to grab him, but he dodged each one effortlessly. Raising his hand, the fire around him—generated from his movements—shot out and burned the vines.

"Can't hold him back," thought Bambi, until Dante was right in front of him, throwing a punch that stopped at his face. "Matter not. Where here," said Bambi as the door to the room opened and Dante got flung out. He found himself in a wild forest.

"Where are we?" questioned Dante.

"The land of dead things go," replied Bambi.

"You said what now?" said a shocked Dante, looking up. Trees stretched higher than buildings and skyscrapers as a giant UFO floated above them. Looking back, Bambi was gone. The night sky was full of unrecognizable stars. Two moon—one with a deep, lonely red—hung in the distance. Whilst another one casted a blue gazed.

Then fear ran down his spine. Survival fear—only animals get it. Fear of being prey. But something else too: anger, malice, hatred ran through his heart. The instinct of a predator and prey took over him.

"In what you call a pocket dimension, I call it my world. A planet full of green. Little green planet," said the trees, the air, the ground—all things around him.

He was in a world not of his own.
