So, was the Black Dragon weak?
Of course not!
The Black Dragon was absolute in its strength at the topmost peak of the mortal world's power hierarchy—a natural disaster monster whose estimated power rested in the range of Level 10 or even higher.
Proof of this could be clearly seen from its past track record and combat history.
The golden generation of the two strongest Familias in history, the Zeus Familia and the Hera Familia, were slaughtered without mercy.
Their legendary elite forces were filled with figures who were human monsters in flesh, including the Captain of the Zeus Familia, Maxim, who held the status of a Level 8 adventurer, as well as the Captain of the Hera Familia, Empress, who held the status of a Level 9 adventurer—the highest peak of mortal civilization to this day, who remained unreplaced by anyone even now.
However, when those two peerless titan alliances joined hands to challenge the Black Dragon, they were instead crushed and slaughtered so effortlessly that nothing was left of them.

The sole reason the Black Dragon ever lost its left eye was due to a sword strike from Albert Waldstein, the strongest ancient hero of all time before the Age of the Gods began.
Even so, Albert had to sacrifice his own life, aided by the full deployment of power from the Great Wind Spirit and his wife, Aria, merely to blind one eye of the Black Dragon and seal it at the northern tip.
Unfortunately, the opponent the Black Dragon faced today had leaped beyond the boundaries of mortal strength itself. Even though in terms of status Charlie was technically still Level 7, his strength could not be measured using the normal standards of any adventurer whatsoever.
As a Transcendent, Charlie's power already rested above the majority of the gods and goddesses. Only high-ranking deities were capable of matching or surpassing him.
In short, the power gap between Charlie and the Black Dragon was already like the distance between heaven and earth.
Therefore, it was entirely natural that the Black Dragon was defeated just like that, without being able to offer any worthy resistance.
Charlie floated down closer to the colossal corpse that had been split in two, gazing at the pool of blood beneath him with a serene expression.
"Mm... By comparison, you were indeed far stronger than the Evil Dragon Fafnir I defeated back then." He murmured softly. "But even so, your strength has never touched or pierced the domain of the gods. It is truly an exaggeration for the people out there to claim that you possess power capable of destroying the entire world."
Charlie let out a faint sigh, forming a bitter smile.
"This proves one thing... The gods actually possessed the ability to eliminate the Black Dragon long ago. But they intentionally ignored it and left it alive."
"They were merely waiting for the arrival of someone deemed 'worthy' of bearing the title of the final hero to defeat the Black Dragon..."
"In essence, they just wanted to watch an entertaining drama scene for their boring eternity."
Although Charlie had stepped into the domain of a Transcendent, he possessed none of the twisted mentality of the gods who were willing to sacrifice the suffering of mortals merely for entertainment.
Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind, causing Charlie to pause for a moment amidst the silence of Dragon Valley.
"Will I in the future... after living for far too long, also turn cold and indifferent like these gods I always look down upon...?" he asked himself.
However, he quickly shook his head, wearing a weary smile.
"Oh well. There is no point in pondering a future that hasn't even happened yet. It is better to just enjoy what exists in the present."

The Sacred Sword Severian inside Charlie's grip suddenly glowed brightly, before finally transforming back into its original form—a small silver-haired girl wearing a white dress, Est.
Est stood beside Charlie, gazing at the colossal corpse of the Black Dragon split in two before them, then looked up at Charlie's somber face.
"Onii-chan..." Est tilted her head slightly, staring with her large, clear eyes. "Why are you in a bad mood? Didn't Onii-chan just succeed in defeating this big lizard?"
Charlie smiled faintly, reaching out his hand to softly pat Est's smooth head.
"I just feel a little disappointed, Est." His gaze drifted toward the gray northern sky. "What the people in this world refer to as 'gods'... in essence are merely a race endowed with immense power. The vast majority of them are far removed from humanity's picture of a merciful deity."
Est tilted her head to the other side again, her thin eyebrows knitting together lightly.
"Something far removed from humanity's picture...?" she murmured innocently, seemingly not fully grasping the depth of meaning behind her Master's words.
Charlie did not continue his explanation any further.
Without needing to activate his Senrigan, he could already see the silhouette of the Education District's giant airship rushing rapidly toward their position.
"It's time for us to leave, Est." Charlie withdrew his hand from the spirit girl's head. "I don't want the achievement of killing the Black Dragon to be known by anyone. I am far too lazy to deal with the gods who will flock to me later with their respective hidden intentions and agendas."
Est nodded obediently and hugged Charlie's arm. "I will always follow wherever Onii-chan goes."
By utilizing the Hundred Gauntlets to manipulate causality, in the blink of an eye, the two of them teleported away from Dragon Valley, leaving behind the body of the Black Dragon that would soon shock the entire world.
