Chapter 84 - Chapter 084: A New Leaf’s Umbrella

Umbrella.

A strange, even laughable name to the ears of the hardened shinobi gathered in the Hokage conference room.

And company—wasn't that a term used only by wealthy merchants and landowners?

The more the word sat with them, the stranger it felt.

Could it be that Namikaze Mirai, the new Fifth Hokage of Konohagakure, was seriously suggesting he would enter the umbrella manufacturing business?

A murmur of confusion rippled across the room. Most senior clan heads exchanged awkward glances, their brows furrowed in disbelief. The entire atmosphere was shrouded in confusion—until one man, seated quietly among them, looked at Mirai with a complex expression.

Uchiha Fugaku.

His gaze held not doubt, but shock and anticipation. Because unlike the others, he had already heard about this. Namikaze Mirai had shared the blueprint of the so-called "Umbrella Company" with him in private—an idea so bold, so unprecedented, that Fugaku had thought about it night after night since.

'Is it finally beginning?' he wondered.

In the midst of their confusion, Namikaze Mirai's voice finally broke the silence.

"The so-called Umbrella Company," he began, "is a special company affiliated with Konoha. It integrates the hidden village's shinobi power and combines the strengths of every major ninja clan."

The words stunned the crowd. Some leaned forward. Others froze, blinking.

"Umbrella will span multiple industries." Mirai continued. "Medical technology. Military development. Infrastructure. And beyond. But it's not something a single clan can shoulder alone. Which is why I need you all."

A ripple of whispers followed his announcement.

He wasn't joking.

This wasn't about umbrellas. This was about something that would reshape the shinobi world.

"Hokage-sama." Nara Shikaku spoke up, always the first to cut through ambiguity, "Is the Umbrella Company meant to be a commercial enterprise… or a military force?"

"Both." Mirai answered without hesitation. "It will be a technology company. Military and business are merely the two pillars of its structure."

He leaned forward slightly, his expression calm but commanding.

"Science and technology are the primary productive forces."

Those words echoed in the room like a kunai thrown into still water.

Many shinobi blinked. The meaning was foreign. But even if they didn't fully grasp it, they could feel its weight. It felt… advanced. Beyond them.

"Konoha has long been reactive—waiting for conflict to erupt before sharpening our blades." Mirai said. "But war doesn't just take lives. It drives innovation. In the aftermath, the medical industry becomes the most profitable. The wounds of war fund the tools of peace. And peace is built not just by force, but by control over the very lifelines people depend on."

Gasps filled the room. The clans were beginning to understand.

"But if we interfere directly in the medical sector under Konoha's name." Mirai continued, "It will invite unwanted eyes. Other villages, mercantile factions, even the Land of Fire's own court might act to sabotage us."

"So." he said, raising a hand, "We need a shadow. A structure unseen. A company—legally independent, but entirely under our control. That is what Umbrella will be."

The room was silent. No one dared to interrupt. No one wanted to miss a single word.

In the distance, thunder rumbled softly, as if the world itself was murmuring in agreement.

"This company will function like the Root did under Shimura Danzo." Mirai continued, his tone growing sharper. "But unlike Root, Umbrella will not remain in the darkness. It will have a civilian face—a global presence. It will bind all industries together, like a net stretched across the shinobi world."

Many of the senior officials inhaled sharply.

Was that even possible?

A massive corporation hidden in plain sight, functioning as Konoha's secret hand across industries?

They could see it now.

Medicine, prosthetics, seal development, chakra control tools, even trading networks—the possibilities spun wildly through their minds.

Some clenched their fists in silent frustration.

'Why hadn't we thought of this before?'

They had been shackled by the archaic logic of their era.

To them, ninjas killed. They protected. They performed missions. They didn't build businesses. They didn't create companies.

But Namikaze Mirai was redefining what it meant to be a shinobi.

He smiled slightly, watching the dawning comprehension on their faces.

"Ninja talent is wasted if it's only used to kill." he said, voice smooth as water but heavy with conviction. "Our knowledge, our chakra control, our ability to mold and manipulate—these can change the world in ways beyond violence."

The statement stunned them.

Not just because of what he said, but because of how true it felt.

"We have brilliant minds in every fields from every clan." Mirai continued. "Hyuga precision, Nara intellect, Yamanaka mental connectivity, Akimichi biology, Aburame insect symbiosis, Uchiha ocular prowess. Instead of wasting these talents on endless bloodshed, let's build something that lasts."

No one dared interrupt.

Finally, Mirai raised a hand and concluded, "The headquarters of Umbrella will be established in the former Root facility."

Many officials stiffened.

The place where Danzo had committed countless atrocities?

Mirai nodded, acknowledging their silent thoughts. "Danzo's sins cannot be erased. But his infrastructure will not be wasted. His laboratories, his vaults, his secret tunnels—we'll repurpose them. What was once a nest of darkness will become a beacon of progress."

The symbolism hit hard.

Some were speechless.

He had killed Danzo.

Now he would absorb everything Danzo had created and turn it into something better.

True conquest was not destruction.

It was transformation.

"There are no more 'roots' buried in the ground." Mirai said, eyes flashing. "From now on, there are only umbrellas to protect the new leaves."

The phrase echoed like a commandment.

That line…

It wasn't just a metaphor.

It was a creed.

Konoha's new Will of Fire.

A will that no longer spoke only of sacrifice and endurance—but of evolution.

Of creation.

Of protection that came not from blind obedience, but from shared prosperity.

Fugaku stared at the young Hokage and, in that moment, felt something burn in his chest.

A long-lost feeling.

Hope.

After the conference ended, the clans moved swiftly.

Material selection. Personnel drafting. Facility surveys. Umbrella's formation began in silence, like a flower blooming in the night.

From the shadows of Root, new life would emerge.

Namikaze Mirai remained seated alone at the head of the now-empty room, fingertips tapping against the armrest as he stared at the Hokage documents laid out before him.

He wasn't smiling.

He wasn't pleased.

He was planning.

Because even with all this in motion, there remained one more crucial piece he needed.

A powerful pillar for the medical foundation of the Umbrella Corporation.

A Senju.

A Sannin.

A living legend.

A gambler.

"Tsunade." he murmured, eyes narrowing.

"We have to find a way to keep Tsunade in Konoha."
