Not all Cat Cakes possessed the overwhelming strength of the Star God Cat Cakes.
Take Ice Cake, Trash Cake, and Glutinous Rice Cake for example: three Cat Cakes similar in appearance to Stelle, Dan Heng, and March 7th. Coincidentally, the three had teamed up and accepted a commission from Bronya to head to Belobog.
Inside Qlipoth Fort, Bronya looked at the three little creatures on the table, her heart completely melted.
"So cute~ Seele, look! They look just like the Trailblazers!"
While Bronya praised them, Seele took a closer look at the three Cat Cakes. "Hey? You're right. They really do. Especially the eyes, they really feel just like the real ones."
The Ice Cake, resembling March 7th, looked around with wide, starry eyes full of curiosity, while the Glutinous Rice Cake, reminiscent of Dan Heng, stood like the responsible elder, guarding both Trash Cake and Ice Cake.
As for Trash Cake? From the moment it entered Qlipoth Fort, its gaze had been fixed on the trash can.
No doubt about it, it was a creature created by Pei Guang and Stelle. Even their interests matched exactly.
Bronya said, "They're adorable! But… are you sure it's okay to give them a commission?"
Just like the Foxian tribe had their doubts when sending Yaoshi Cake to the battlefield, Bronya worried whether creatures this cute might get picked up and taken away before they even had a chance to fight back.
Seele replied, "Why worry so much? If Ah Guang says they're good to go, then they're good to go!"
After spending so much time around Pei Guang, Seele had given up trying to make sense of anything involving him.
There was no need for overthinking, just trust. After all, it was Pei Guang who saved her life and the whole of Belobog.
No way he'd ever harm them.
Bronya then thought seriously. "So… what should we have them do?"
If they were ordinary people, Bronya would easily assign them to suitable positions. But when it came to these three Cat Cakes, she was genuinely stumped.
Seele said, "How about patrol duty? There are a lot of outsiders in Belobog lately, some of them are definitely up to no good."
And not just outsiders, some locals were causing trouble too.
Even though the Interastral Tournament Festival had ended, many offworlders had stayed behind to enjoy Belobog's snowy scenery. Among them, a few vagrants had started stirring up trouble.
With no Trailblazing missions or battles happening right now, Seele had increased patrol efforts to crack down on these bad actors. Belobog had only just escaped crisis and begun to rise again, there was no way she'd let anyone ruin its reputation.
That's why she often patrolled up and down both the Overworld and Underworld.
But a single person could only do so much, and the Silvermane Guards were swamped. Belobog was sorely lacking in patrol personnel.
Listening to Seele's suggestion, Bronya gave it some thought and nodded.
"Good idea. Ahem, little ones, I have a commission for you. Belobog is currently busy with rebuilding and revitalization, but some petty criminals are trying to take advantage of that to tarnish our city's image. Please patrol within Belobog and stop these actions!
Upon completing your mission, you will receive local specialties and a number of credits!"
Bronya had never been much of a gamer before, but because of the open-world initiative and Pei Guang's involvement, she had crammed a lot of game-related knowledge. At the very least, she could issue quests properly now.
Hearing Bronya's commission, the three little Cat Cakes let out excited meows.
Watching them meow happily, Seele smiled too. "We'll be counting on you three for patrol duty~"
Trash Cake bounced up and down, its movements clearly saying, "Leave it to us!"
The three Traiblazer Cat Cakes left Qlipoth Fort in high spirits.
If Pei Guang saw the scene, he'd probably feel nostalgic: back when they first came to Belobog, they were fugitives wanted by the Supreme Guardian.
As Cat Cakes, they didn't know any of that. They just wanted to happily complete the commission, find something valuable, and bring it back for Pei Guang and Stelle.
To the Cat Cakes, Pei Guang was an invincible existence, he was the reason they were born into this world and could explore it. To repay him, Trash Cake resolved to find the best treasure and give it to him.
Ice Cake and Glutinous Rice Cake agreed, and the chance to explore a world they'd never seen before got all three of them fired up.
Hopping and skipping through the streets of Belobog, the three Cat Cakes patrolled seriously, watching their surroundings carefully. Their presence caught the attention of Belobog's citizens.
Seeing such adorable creatures, everyone couldn't help but stop and admire them.
Unnoticed by the patrolling trio, Seele had entered her quantum state and was secretly following them, keeping them safe from the shadows.
She trusted Pei Guang's creations would complete their task—but trust was one thing, and caution was another.
The first patrol went smoothly. But during the second round, a few shady individuals in the crowd set their sights on the wallets in people's pockets.
Seele spotted the thief, but she was curious whether the little ones would notice him too.
And as it turned out, they really did.
Trash Cake suddenly let out an excited meow: "Meow~!"
Ice Cake's eyes sparkled as it looked at Trash Cake, as if urging it to take the lead. Trash Cake thought hard, and then, suddenly inspired, its eyes lit up, and it pulled out a stick just a bit taller than itself from its little paw.
What happened next almost made Seele lose her composure, because she saw the three Cat Cakes leap openly at the thief.
This approach was just too much like Pei Guang and the others.
Thinking back, wasn't this exactly how Pei Guang dealt with enemies? He'd squat down and walk over openly, and then...
But Seele clearly overlooked one thing. Trash Cake was indeed holding a stick, but it wasn't just any stick.
Notably, the words "10,000T" were inscribed on the stick.
As Seele recalled this, the three Cat Cakes had already hopped over to the thief. At that moment, the thief had just succeeded and was about to slip away when he felt a tug on his clothes.
"Who's there?" He looked around warily but saw nothing.
"Meow~"
A meow caught his attention. He instinctively looked down—just in time to see Trash Cake swing its stick straight at his head.
With a bonk, the thief didn't get his brain bashed in, but a massive lump did form on his head, knocking his hat off and sending a sharp, throbbing pain through his skull.
"Damn it! I'm gonna kill you!"
The thief flew into a rage, but clearly, the Cat Cakes were faster.
Glutinous Rice Cake, despite resembling Dan Heng, hadn't inherited a shred of his calm demeanor. No one knew where it got a pair of chopsticks, but with a smooth "Meow~", it jabbed the chopsticks right into the thief's backside.
With Trash Cake starting the attack, Ice Cake and Glutinous Rice Cake joined in, pummeling the thief together.
Seele could somehow understand this part, but what happened next genuinely shook her already weary mind.
Because unlike a typical beatdown, when the Cat Cakes fought, a puff of smoke actually appeared around them, as if this were some kind of comedy animation meant to skip fight scenes while adding a humorous effect.
Seele had never really watched that type of anime, but watching the three Cat Cakes attack and somehow create a giant smoke cloud, with heads popping in and out in turns… it truly left her speechless.
