Hearing Zhong Tingyue so blatantly talking back to him, Zhong Zhengping's face grew even darker. The anger that had long been building inside him could no longer be suppressed, and he turned a cold gaze on Zhong Tingyue.
"What did you say?"
"I said, my home is in Modu!" Zhong Tingyue refused to back down.
Zhong Zhengping's expression became even more sullen. "Modu? If you've got the guts, say that again."
Zhong Tingyue answered, enunciating each word: "My home. Is in Modu!"
Zhong Zhengping suddenly slammed the table and bellowed, "Good! Good! Good, you little brat, you're really turning the heavens upside down!"
Facing Zhong Zhengping's furious glare, Zhong Tingyue's body shook violently. She jumped in fright, and the shadow of her childhood resurfaced in her mind.
Her biological father, whenever he faced her, was so often stern and severe. She had never felt the slightest thing that could be called fatherly love.
