Chapter 439 - Chapter 441: So This Is Your Prince?

Genshin Impact: I'm The Envoy of Snezhnaya

Chapter 441: So This Is Your Prince?

Everything in Mondstadt seemed inseparable from the wind.

Whether it was Decarabian, the God of Storms, or Andrius, the King of the North Wind, both were gods who belonged to the element of Anemo.

Perhaps Decarabian could once have ascended as the Anemo Archon. Unfortunately, he never truly listened to the voices of his people.

He believed that by creating a safe sanctuary where these fragile lives could survive, he would naturally earn their devotion.

What he failed to realize was that what his people truly longed for was the sky beyond the storms—and freedom.

Time leaves its mark upon all things, even the hardest stone.

After passing through the barrier, what greeted Bai Luo's eyes was a corner of the ancient capital, steeped in the aura of ages past.

Beneath the layers of yellow earth, the outlines of old stone steps could still be seen.

On the massive pillars that had nearly merged with the surrounding mountains, the insignia of the God of Storms remained clearly visible.

Climbing over a moss-covered stone wall, Bai Luo caught sight of a towering structure.

It was the place where Decarabian had once received the worship of his subjects. Even after thousands of years, traces of the glory of the storm still lingered there.

Jumping down from the wall, Bai Luo stepped onto what resembled a stone bridge.

There had once been many such walkways.

Unfortunately, an adventurer who simply couldn't leave well enough alone had come through this place.

As a result, only this single bridge remained relatively intact.

This was Bai Luo's first visit to Stormterror's Lair since arriving in this world.

He had no idea what it had looked like before.

Now, however, Hilichurls wandered everywhere.

As mentioned before, places saturated with elemental energy were deadly to Hilichurls.

Judging from their sluggish appearance, the elemental energy here affected them quite severely.

Even so, they still dragged their exhausted bodies through the howling winds, tirelessly patrolling the ruins.

Could these Hilichurls actually stop intruders?

Of course not.

The one who stationed them here had never expected them to defeat anyone capable of infiltrating this place.

Their true purpose was to serve as an early warning system.

The moment they spotted an enemy, they would immediately send word.

Whether they lived or died afterward didn't matter.

As long as the warning got through, they had fulfilled their purpose.

Watching a Hilichurl lying on the ground lazily scratching its backside every now and then, Bai Luo quietly concealed his presence.

Bai Luo had once taught Collei a method for dealing with this sort of situation.

It was the classic "boy who cried wolf" tactic.

By repeatedly triggering the Hilichurls' alarms until those behind them stopped trusting their reports, one could eventually slip in unnoticed.

Of course, that method was only meant for someone like Collei, who lacked stealth abilities.

As for Bai Luo...

He simply turned invisible and walked right past them.

There was no need to complicate things.

The closer he drew to the central tower, the stronger the presence of wind became.

The lingering might of the once-mighty Lone King of the Tower still enveloped the entire structure.

Within the fierce gale came a faint sound...

A low, rhythmic whooshing.

Was it merely the wind?

No.

It sounded more like the breathing of some enormous creature.

"Dvalin?"

Bai Luo had heard that sound before.

It was the same noise Dvalin had made after Bai Luo knocked him unconscious with the Wolf's Gravestone—Youth Edition, lying motionless on the ground.

The cooldown on his Quantumization had already ended.

Activating it, Bai Luo ignored the raging winds surrounding the tower. Using the power of his wire lines, he passed through the storm barrier that had once crushed the hopes of countless people and entered the tower's interior.

. . .

"Your Highness! Your Highness!"

The dragon once treasured by the Abyss as the Anemo Archon's beloved familiar had now been discarded to the side like a piece of junk.

The fluffy Abyss Mages crowded anxiously around Aether, scrambling to collect morning dew on leaves and trying to feed it to their prince.

But Aether had completely lost consciousness.

He couldn't respond to their desperate calls.

Even the water they managed to pour into his mouth simply trickled back out from the corner of his lips.

"What did you do to His Highness?!"

Every Abyss Mage turned to glare at the one who had just returned to report to Aether.

The poor mage looked utterly bewildered.

"I– I only reported Dvalin's situation! I didn't do anything!"

How was he supposed to know?

He had only just returned to the group, and then His Highness suddenly fell out of the sky right into the lingering storm aura left behind by the Lone King of the Tower!

If not for the Abyss's protection, His Highness would have been torn to pieces by the hurricane.

"Then why has His Highness ended up like this? If you can't provide a reasonable explanation, then we'll have no choice but to hand you over to Lord Abyss Herald for judgment!"

The Abyss Mage holding the dew slammed the leaf in his hand onto the ground and shouted angrily.

Yet beneath his fury was a trace of fear.

He knew that if something had happened to the Prince while under their care, then even if they found a scapegoat, none of them would escape punishment.

"Hey, no matter how you look at it, there's no way this little fluffy guy is capable of pulling something like that off. I'd bet he couldn't even beat Master Diluc from Mondstadt, let alone His Highness the Prince."

The sudden voice from nearby made the Abyss Mage who had been falsely accused breathe a sigh of relief.

That was true.

He wasn't particularly strong in the first place. How could he possibly have—

Wait.

Who said that?

Not just him—even the other Abyss Mages realized something was wrong.

They hurriedly raised their staffs, preparing to summon their elemental shields.

But before they could, a sharp series of metallic whisss sounds echoed beside their ears.

Swish!

The steel wires suddenly tightened.

Like a fishing net, they cinched around the entire group of Abyss Mages, binding them together in an instant.

Their staffs clattered noisily onto the ground, and the Abyss Mages—who had been floating in midair—were all yanked down in a heap.

Holding the other end of the wires, Bai Luo stepped out from the shadows.

In truth, he had arrived long before they started interrogating the accused Abyss Mage.

Rather than revealing himself immediately, he had first placed a mark on the Prince, who was lying unconscious in the center.

Then he quietly strung his steel wires throughout the surrounding area.

Only after making sure there wasn't a single flaw in his setup did he spring the trap and capture all of the Abyss Mages in one go.

"I-it's— it's you!"

One of the fluffy Abyss Mages immediately recognized Bai Luo.

That was hardly surprising.

Recently, Bai Luo's name had come up constantly whenever their Prince spoke.

On top of that, Dvalin had repeatedly addressed him as the Anemo Archon.

As a result, the Abyss Mages had long since memorized everything they could about him.

"I only came in to see what was going on."

"I didn't expect you all to give me such a pleasant surprise."

As he spoke, Bai Luo casually kicked the fallen staffs farther away.

Although an Abyss Mage's power did not come entirely from these staffs, which were fashioned from branches of the Ley Lines, losing them still greatly diminished their combat ability.

His gaze finally settled on the unconscious Aether lying on the ground.

A subtle, almost amused expression appeared on Bai Luo's face.

"So..."

"This is the Prince you've all been talking about?"
