The car was quiet as it moved through the winding road, away from the temple.
Kimberly sat beside Theo, her hand resting lightly on his, but her mind was far from peaceful. She stared out the window, watching the trees fly past.
Theo glanced at her, noticing how distant she looked. He gave her hand a small squeeze.
"Are you alright?"
She turned slowly toward him. "I should feel stronger after everything we went through, right? But I don't. I feel… heavier."
He didn't speak right away. Instead, he looked ahead, as though the answers were somewhere in the road ahead.
"We've seen things most people would never understand," he said finally. "Power always comes with a price."
She nodded slowly, then whispered, "I feel like something is hiding inside me, Theo. Something I don't fully understand. Something that scares me."
He frowned. "What do you mean?"
