"Ah He, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell again?" Pei Huaian asked anxiously.
Shao He pursed her lips and remained silent. She didn't know what to say and reached up to smooth out the furrows in his brow.
This gesture brought Pei Huaian to tears of joy. He merely held Shao He's hand to his mouth.
"Ah He, don't leave me behind again."
The pitiful pleading in his voice caused a pang in Shao He's heart, and she unconsciously promised, "Okay."
Getting the answer he wanted, Pei Huaian smiled, a smile that was as stunningly beautiful as peach blossoms blooming in the winter.
He held Shao He tightly in his arms, as if afraid that the slightest relaxation of his grip would cause him to lose her.
"Ah He, I knew you couldn't bear to leave me. I thought you were going to abandon me..." Pei Huaian babbled, explaining his inner thoughts incoherently.
He had been living in agony during this time and was very scared, waking up from nightmares every night.
