"What are you guys doing in town at this hour? Have you eaten?" Xu Nianji asked as he walked.
Xu Nianji wiped the stone under the big tree with his sleeve, and the three siblings sat down together.
"We ate already. Second brother and I ate before coming over."
Xu Nianhua said with a smile, eyes squinting merrily.
Xu Nian'an opened up the lunchbox they brought, the fragrant meatballs—braised meatballs—looked just delightful.
"Big brother, hurry up and eat."
Xu Nian'an handed it over. Smelling the aroma, even though he'd already eaten two sweet potatoes and two meatballs, he still couldn't help craving more.
"Why did you bring these for me instead of just eating them at home?" Xu Nianji glanced at the meatballs—despite wanting to eat them, thinking of Mom and Dad and his younger siblings at home, he withdrew his gaze.
"We all ate at home, these are specially for you," Xu Nianhua giggled. "Big brother, just eat. We walked here, and if you don't eat soon, they'll get too hot."
