Six smirked as the notification faded from his vision. Another level up, another step closer to perfection. The Quick Draw perk was a practical choice—anything that let him react faster in a firefight was worth taking. With the way things were going, he had a feeling he'd need that edge soon.
The favor, though—that was something else entirely.
A rare silver-tier reward wasn't something he came across often, and the ability to compel any character to grant him a wish, within their limits, was nothing short of a game-changer. The possibilities ran through his mind. He could strong-arm a powerful figure into giving him something valuable, secure an alliance, or even manipulate the course of the Mojave's future.
But he wasn't about to waste it. He'd keep it in his back pocket until the right moment.
The King nodded, his expression darkening with resolve.
"We do this right, we can take Gomorrah down in one blow. Nero and Big Sal won't know what hit 'em."
Six's eyes narrowed, calculating.
"We'll need more than just force. We need to hit their reputation, their finances, and their ties to the Legion. Expose them as the backstabbers they are. If we can't crush them outright, we'll make sure they're isolated, bleeding out from every angle."
The King let out a chuckle, shaking his head.
"You sure know how to stir the pot, Six. But I like it. Gomorrah's always been a thorn in Freeside's side. It's time we put an end to them."
Six glanced around the room, his mind already working on the details.
"I'll handle the infiltration and the intel gathering. We need to find every piece of leverage they've got—corruption, deals with the Legion, whatever we can turn into a weapon."
The King leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.
"I'll round up my men. We hit the streets, and make sure the NCR doesn't think we're taking it lying down. They need to see the Kings are still in the game, and they're not gonna just roll over for anyone, not even Caesar's Legion."
Six gave a tight nod.
"We'll make sure the NCR's focus shifts. If they're too busy hunting the real traitors, we can do the rest."
The King grinned, the cocky swagger returning.
"Alright, Six. You've got my boys, and you've got me. Let's burn Gomorrah, and send a message they won't forget."
Six gave a cold smile.
"We'll make sure they remember this."
With the plan set in motion, the Kings and Six were ready to take the fight to Gomorrah. The flames of rebellion were already beginning to smolder, and soon, the Omertas would realize that no amount of scheming would protect them from the reckoning they had brought upon themselves.
Six stepped out of the King's School of Impersonation, the sounds of Freeside's bustling streets echoing around him. Rex, the cyberdog with his signature mechanical leg and glowing eyes, trotted loyally beside him, his usual enthusiasm replaced by an odd, sluggish gait. There was something about the way Rex was moving, the subtle twitching in his mechanical limbs, that made Six uneasy.
The King had done a lot for him over the years, but this favor… this was something different. The King always appreciated Rex as a companion, someone who could hold his own in a fight and bring that much-needed canine loyalty into his life.
The King, for all his bravado and pride, was a man who valued his pets deeply. When he handed over Rex with a grim expression and a few quiet words about "taking care of him," it was clear the King had no intention of seeing the dog suffer.
Six couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. Rex had been by the King's side for years, and now, thanks to his deteriorating condition, the King had entrusted the cyberdog's well-being to him.
Julie Farkas's diagnosis echoed in his mind, the words brain surgery and sophisticated cybernetics work hanging like a dark cloud over what was to come. It wasn't going to be easy.
Rex was still walking beside him, though slower than usual. Six paused for a moment, crouching down to meet his cybernetic companion's eyes.
"You ready for this, boy?"
Six asked quietly.
Rex's tail wagged faintly, the mechanical part giving a soft whir as it moved. The cyberdog's usual bark of excitement was reduced to a hoarse whine, and Six could see the weariness in his eyes. It wasn't the usual fire Rex carried—this wasn't just about aging; this was something deeper.
The Followers had been clear; their resources weren't enough for the kind of work Rex needed. They were good, but there were limits to what they could do. Six knew exactly who could help with the sophisticated cybernetics Rex needed.
It wasn't something the Followers could handle, but he had connections with people who could, even if those connections were not always aboveboard.
Rex gave a low whine beside him, snapping Six out of his thoughts. Right. First thing's first—getting the cyberdog fixed.
He and Rebecca Patted Rex on the head, Six turned his attention toward the road ahead. He had a few options—Doctor Henry in Jacobstown had experience with cybernetics, but there were also more… unconventional choices in the Mohave if he was willing to dig deep enough.
Either way, time was running out, and Rex needed help soon.
With his plans for the Omertas underway and the Kings firmly on his side, Six took a deep breath. The Mojave was changing, and he was right in the middle of it.
But that was just the way he liked it.
"Come on, boy."
Six said, adjusting his Pip-Boy and setting off.
"We've got work to do."
Six stood up straight and motioned for Rex to follow him as they made their way through the streets. He had a few ideas, but it would take some time to track down the right people—people who dealt in high-level cybernetics.
It wouldn't be easy, and it would definitely cost him, but there was no other choice. The King had put his trust in him, and Six wasn't about to let Rex suffer.
It was going to be a long road ahead, but Six was determined. Rex like any loyal dog would always be there for him, through thick and thin. Now, it was time to return the favor to man's best friend.
With a final glance back toward the King's compound, Six and Rex disappeared into the dusty streets of Freeside, heading toward the unknown path that would hopefully lead to a better future for the cyberdog.
