Chapter 143 - Revenge is best served cold

Six leaned back in his chair, his eyes lingering on Rebecca, who was practically bouncing with glee, radiating an energy that could light up an entire city. She was practically glowing with joy after everything that had just gone down. It wasn't every day you got to exact revenge and have it handed to you so neatly.

"Seriously, Becca."

Six said with an amused smirk.

"You're enjoying this a little too much."

Rebecca didn't even look his way as she grinned, her eyes dancing with excitement.

"Big guy, they hit me in my gorgeous face and tried to steal your War Bus. I think I've earned the right to be a little excited about payback."

Six chuckled softly, but before he could say more, Colonel Moore cleared her throat, getting everyone's attention back on track.

"Just to be clear."

Moore began, her voice as professional as ever.

"President Kimball requested that they be handled… discreetly. The NCR can't afford another public scandal."

Rebecca rolled her eyes, clearly not thrilled by the idea of subtlety.

"Oh, don't worry, Colonel. I'll be verydiscreet about it."

Her tone was dripping with mock sweetness.

Six raised a brow.

"How discreet are we talking, Becca?"

Rebecca tapped her chin with exaggerated thought, her eyes twinkling mischievously before her lips curled into a wicked grin.

"I was thinking… maybe a little time in the fighting pits? See how long they last against the drugged-up bears we captured. Poetic, don't you think? For them to die by the very symbol of their own flag?"

She threw her head back in mock-villainous laughter.

"Muahahaha… Muahahaha!!!"

Moore didn't even flinch at the thought. Instead, she gave Rebecca an approving nod.

"That's why you're my favorite pal, Rebecca. And as long as their disappearances don't trace back to us, we don't care what you do."

Six sighed, shaking his head.

"Well, I guess that settles it. Send them to Goodsprings."

Moore gave a curt nod.

"They'll be on the next transport."

Rebecca clapped her hands together, barely containing her excitement.

"Oh, this is gonna be fun."

With the revenge business handled, Moore moved on to the next topic, she studied Six carefully, as if trying to gauge whether he was truly serious about his next offer.

"You're offering to rebuild HELIOS One into a functional nuclear reactor?"

She asked, skepticism laced in her tone.

Six nodded.

"That place is useless with the nuclear winter blotting out the sun. ARCHIMEDES is just a fancy relic at this point. But with the right modifications, it can be turned into a fully operational nuclear power plant. That means reliable energy for the NCR, for your bases, and for whoever else you want to supply."

Moore exhaled, clearly thinking over the implications.

"And what do you want in return?"

Six smirked.

"Nothing. Consider it a gesture of goodwill. But I will be sending my own forces and scientists to oversee the project. No NCR interference."

Moore narrowed her eyes.

"No NCR interference? You expect us to just let you waltz in and take control of one of our most strategic locations?"

Six shrugged.

"I expect you to make the smart decision. You let me handle it, and within months, you'll have a fully functional nuclear reactor. You get stable power for your territories, I get to flex my engineering muscles, and everyone wins. Or… you can try to fix it yourselves, waste years on bureaucracy, and end up with nothing."

Moore tapped her fingers on the table, clearly weighing her options. Finally, she sighed.

"You drive a hard bargain, but I'd be an idiot to refuse. Fine. HELIOS One is yours to rebuild. But if I see any signs of funny business—"

"You won't."

Six assured her.

"I have no interest in playing politics. I just want to make sure my investments—and your people—don't freeze to death."

Moore nodded.

"Then we have a deal."

Rebecca, still riding the high of getting her revenge, leaned over to Six.

"Big guy, does this mean we get another fancy power plant?"

Six chuckled.

"It means we get another functional one. And it means the NCR owes us even more favors."

Rebecca's grin turned into something mischievous.

"I love being on top."

Six leaned back, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"That's the spirit."

Six smirked, leaning in just enough to match her teasing energy.

"Oh, I know."

He murmured, his voice laced with amusement.

Six chuckled, raising an eyebrow at Rebecca's playful tone.

"Careful, Becca."

He said with a smirk.

"Keep talking like that, and I'll start thinking you're after more than just revenge and power plants."

Rebecca's mischievous grin only widened, and she leaned in closer, her voice low and teasing.

"Oh, you know I always like to get what I want, big guy."

Six's smirk softened into a more genuine smile.

"Well, you're getting it, aren't you?"

"Maybe."

She shot him a look, one brow arching as her grin widened.

"But I think there's still room for a little more fun along the way."

She quipped, nudging his leg under the table.

Moore sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Can you two not for five minutes?"

Rebecca leaned back in her chair, arms behind her head.

"No promises, Colonel."

She stood up from the chair, her energy infectious.

"Now, about those bears..."

Six leaned back, arms crossed, watching Rebecca practically vibrate with excitement. He had seen her fired up before, but this was something else.

"You sure you don't want to pace yourself?"

He asked, amused.

"You've already won. No need to go full Saturday morning villain."

Rebecca scoffed, waving a hand dismissively.

"Please, big guy. If I'm gonna do this, I might as well have some fun with it."

She tapped her chin, eyes gleaming.

"Now, do we throw them in with the Cocaine Bears all at once, or do we stagger them? Really let the fear set in?"

Colonel Moore, arms behind her back, cleared her throat.

"Not to interfere, but I'd suggest the latter. Psychological torment before execution tends to make people talk."

Rebecca grinned.

"See, Six? The Colonel gets me."

Six shook his head, chuckling.

"I'll leave the details to you, Becca. Just don't let them starve before the bears get to 'em. I'd hate for all this buildup to be for nothing."

Rebecca clapped her hands together.

"Oh, don't you worry, big guy. This is going to be perfect."
