Brooke desperately tried to call Thane one last time before she got up on the podium for her press conference. But he didn't respond, and she was forced to return to the awaiting reporters, without hearing from her husband.

Serena cackled over the press conference playing on the television. She picked up her remote and lowered the volume. "Brooke's finally going to get what's coming to her. And that bitchy assistant is finally going to be out of our hair for good."
She looked over her shoulder at Scott, who had two stacks of money held tightly in his hands.
"You truly are a heartless mother." He cackled, staring at the money, "Just for a bit of validation, you nearly sold your daughter out."
He started counting the first stack, "What would you have done if your plan backfired and that kid in Cassie's stomach got harmed?" He asked.
