Thane stepped out of the kitchen, both hands occupied with plating. Brooke hastily dropped his phone back on the table, and helped him set the table.
For the most part their dinner was silent, with small talk inserted here and there, Brooke was tempted multiple times to ask about Mallory, and why he was still talking with her, but she ultimately decided against it.
After dinner, however, Thane made an announcement that left her stunned.
"I have a business trip coming up, I'll be gone for a week." he informed her, whilst they cleared the table.
Brooke's countenance fell, "Will you be okay?" she sounded worried.
He gave her a gentle smile, "I told you already, after we uncovered Gilbert's scheme, I am more or less fully recovered. The medication is working perfectly."
She sighed, "Okay, but make sure you take your medication with you, and take doctor Anders too."
"Yes, Mrs Grayson." he bowed his head, teasing her.
