Chapter 185 - Age Of Holy War (1)

The Abelion Hills, a place home to a ridiculously large array of various Demi-humans. They constantly launched assaults against the Robel Holy Kingdom, though they were hardly successful. That is, until now. With the aid received from the Slane Theocracy their weapons were stronger. It was a completely different experience from before.

"Captain! This attack is larger than the previous ones, and there's more…" A squire in light armor reported, exhausted from his full on sprint across the wall. "They have weapons… The quality is undeniably better than just mere bones, and wooden clubs."

The captain's eyes went wide. She turned to her adjutant. "Go, request immediate support from the Divine Paladins!"

"Yes Ma'am!" Her adjutant summoned a floating board, and pushed off, the board carrying her at a speed the squire could only gawk at.

"You, deliver the message that paladins are on their way. We will not lose. Even if they break the wall, we will defeat the enemy."

"Yes, Ma'am!" The squire ran off again.

"To think it's so bad their typical messenger wasn't the one who came. It's bad."

"I agree, I'd like to go too." A buff man said with a smirk, pounding his large hands together, a fist and palm combo.

"You just want a chance to let loose, don't you?" The captain's eyes glanced in the brute's direction.

"You've always been able to see through me." He chuckled.

"Very well, go and lend them a hand. If it's really that bad, they'll need the help. Simultaneously, we need to defend this place, but we also can't let ourselves be surrounded. At that point only the goddess, or her kin could save us."

"What do you mean you need the paladins? The wall isn't breached yet and they're just demi-humans."

"They have magic weapons."

"Paladin squads 1, 3, 5 and 12. Emergency mobilization!"

…

Back at the wall, the hellish scene before the paladins who'd arrived as fast as possible, was clear to see just how terrible of a battle it truly was. Fallen men, and women still gripping their weapons, laid about. Many others were wounded, some minor, and some incredibly severe.

"5th squad, begin rescue measures and heal the injured. 12th squad, gather the fallen, and prepare to return them home."

""Yes, Sir!""

A squire stationed at this location, covered in blood, tended to the wounded as much as could. While an oversized brute gazed menacingly into the distance.

"Tell me the situation."

The overly buff man simply nodded his head in the general direction of the enemy. "That."

Confused, the Paladin commander looked out. "Great goddess! What could have happened to embolden them like this?"

"Heh, I had a feeling someone like my captain would ask that, so I beat the answer out of the last survivor. Apparently…" He revealed the facts that the Slane Theocracy was behind this embolden army of Demi-humans.

The paladin, hardly containing his anger, exuded this very same frustration. Looking back to see his fallen country men, and women. Having shown this side of himself, even the buff man could tell something needed to be said…

"They died in battle protecting our people from the enemy. They should be honored, not pitied."

"You're right… I lost my composure. And forgive me once more, but I need to let off a little steam right now." The paladin grit his teeth. "Squad 1, and squad 3, kill the enemy! Fight until you need to retreat. Vice squad leader, you're in command of the 1st squad for a while. I have… Other things to do."

Soon the gate of gargantuan scale opened up wide. And two squads of paladins rode into battle. ""UNDER DIVINE FLAG!"" The unison effect of all these buffs stacked upon each other. And not only this, but a significant synergistic effect was born out of it, one that could only have been possible in the new world. Once stacked, they slowly disappear once outside of the range of the buff's active effect. The captain of the 1st squad received the buffs from the rest of his squad, and the second squad, Resulting in 15 stacks of this massive buff.

His body strained under the immense power of this effect, in fact, he was the only one who could handle this many stacks. Most paladins can't go beyond 5… He was 3 times that right now. And like a hot knife through butter, he cut down the enemy, he was like a one man army. A man attempting to breach the very limits of humanity, and become a hero. A fury, taken on human form.

"He's like a raging berserker, even more than you were, sir." The squire finally getting a moment to rest, said, wiping his face with a rag.

"Heh, you don't have to say everything, even if it is true…"

"Thanks for coming… If you hadn't-"

"Didn't I just say you don't have to say everything? Don't worry about what didn't happen."

"I… I see… That's why I'm still a squire."

The other paladins operated with precision, power, and grace. Riding upon their steads- bred for battle- they cut the enemy's lines to shreds, causing the enemy to initiate a full scale retreat. Proving that, even with boosted might, the Robel Holy Kingdom will never fall.

After the utterly devastating counter attack, the dead were brought home to mourn, and be given a proper send off. The ones they left behind, their eyes burning with desire to fight, to fight for themselves, and everyone else. The faint hope of playing a part in keeping others from suffering the same pain in their tiny hearts, drove them.

The new holy king of the Robel Holy Kingdom sat on his newly inherited throne. Listening to the information his aides had acquired. "The Slane Theocracy… This is a feud that will never end. They dare accuse elves of being demons?" He looked to his wife who still had enough elven blood to know she was partially elven. "They left us to our own devices back during the demon gods invasion. They refused to send any immediate aid in the hopes of patching up our tenuous relationship. They claim to be defenders of humanity, and then turn around and increase the strength of the enemies other humans deal with. And now… They demonize our goddess and those who are bonded with her through kinship, no matter how faint."

The room hung on every word.

"They do not care about humanity in the slightest! They are nothing more than raving lunatics following the bigotry of false gods! They are just as much our enemy as the demi-humans of the Abelion Hills are. We are at war with the Slane Theocracy, show them what it means to command the seas."

At the word of their king, their holy king, every citizen of the country was called to action. Improvements to previous systems were made, streamlining production of everything. It was a mass mobilization. Their country wouldn't go quietly into the night.
