Chapter 55 - The red mist

Avon attacked Laia with all he had, he found a new target, maybe he can destroy this one. That was all he cared about.

Laia didn't expect his to attack her like this. She quickly dodged the punch and tried to move away.

But Avon who had forgotten his limits moved unnaturally fast. Still he was no match for Laia who has completed sould cultivation too.

Though she was nowhere close to Reveria in terms of strength, Avon was only a weakling before Laia.

"Stop! Why are you doing this?! Calm-"

She was interrupted by a punch directed right at her nose, which she failed to block. It left no damage but left her shocked.

He was not listening at all. In fact, he tried to shut her up!

Meanwhile Reveria had completed analysis of the red mist.

She then looked at Avon with worry.

Laia was dodging and blocking but Reveria knew this was all pointless.

She pulled out a small cube like device. Then she sat down cross legged and put the cube before her.

She pulled out some herbs and flowers too.

The cube slowly expanded and an opening formed at the top, she put in all the ingredients.

Pulling out a small microchip, she passed instructions of making this pill into the chip using her mana and pushed the chip into the cube.

The cube began its work and within a few minutes it serves three pills. Two were white and one was pink.

Laia had seen her master begin her alchemy and decided to hold Avon off for longer time.

Laia noticed how Avon's legs were wobbling and his ankles were bending at the wrong angles. She could hear some cracks when his punches missed her and landed on the hard rocky mountain base.

She couldn't do anything stop him so she was waiting for her master to do something.

Avon who was attacking relentlessly was even frustrated when he couldn't hurt even Laia, he went on without caring for his body.

Laia pushed Avon back with restrained strength. He fell backwards and slid to a certain distance.

When he got up to run towards her, a lound crack could be heard and he fell down on his face.

His ankle was broken. But he didn't care and got up regardless and continued to approach Laia.

Laia who heard the lound crack knew it was something big and had a pained expression on her face.

Reveria stood beside Laia and said,

"I will hold him back, feed him one white pill, then the pink one and then the white one again."

"Yes master."

Reveria then appeared behind Avon in a flash and held his arms tightly. He moved his legs violently until multiple cracks were heard, even Reveria flinched at the sound of his bones crumbling.

His tried to move his hip too much and now both his hip joints and thight bones, which were very feeble because of his earlier actions, broke.

His shoulder joints ended up dislocated too because he couldn't escape Reveria's hold.

Laia quickly put one pill into his mouth but he wasn't swallowing. She pushed face upwards and slowly let the pill slide down his throat.

"Urrghhhh"

Avon groaned loudly as he felt his mind calming down and the first thing felt was pain. Excruciating pain, he had broken bones and torn muscles.

Tears welled up in his eyes.

"Uurghh! Noo! Arghhh! It hurts ! Please make it sto-gh...urhhh..m-m-master!"

He was crying out in pain. It pained Reveria and Laia to see him like this.

Laia quickly fed him another pill and he felt some injuries heal up. The pain lessened a little but it was still too much.

He couldn't bear it anymore, he was Suffocating because of the pain.

He knew he was healing but he didn't care anymore, he gave up and just accepted the pain. All he could remember were the painful parts of his life. He had forgotten about happiness, as though that emotion never existed.

The effects of the red mist still hadn't dissipated. Still they showed him his worst memories but now instead of rage he just felt disappointment.

Laia fed him the final pill but he didn't swallow.

The light in his eyes was disappearing,

"Master, there something wrong with his eyes, they're....dulling down!"

Reveria's eyes widened,

"Hey hey! Avon! What happened, you're healing, come on have some hope, don't lose your will to live!"

Laia was shocked to hear this,

He was giving up on his life? Just why...

Avon who heard Reveria didn't care. His mental and physical pain were both beyond what he could bear.

"Just feed him the pill!"

Reveria said,

Laia took the pill from his mouth and pushed it in again and turned his face upwards again.

The pill slowly went down.

His wounds healed again. This time all of them.

Reveria let him go and he just slumped on the ground.

Reveria supported his body from the back and sat behind him.

Laia crouches before him and pulled his face towards her and saw his eyes,

Barely any emotions behind them,

"What happened Avon? Speak to me. Don't give up on your life. Think about how your loved ones will feel if you were to die, you can speak to me, aren't we close friends.

You know how similar we are right? Maybe others never understood your problems like they never did mine....but maybe I'll understand yours...so just confide in me.. okay"

She spoke in a soft and smooth voice . Avon's eyes teared up again and he felt something, he felt hope, slowly the depressing memories began dissipating inside his head and he was thinking better.

He just nodded looking at Laia and closed his eyes. He let his body fall but Reveria behind his caught him and she looked at his relieved face. Her expression loosened up as well.

She looked at Laia and questioned,

"Laia...how did you know what was going on inside his mind?"
