In the middle of the rundown park, surrounded by a few scattered tents, worn benches, and patches of dirty grass, Claire Bennett stood facing Christian. Her long hair framed a tired face, and whatever beauty she once carried was now partially hidden beneath exhaustion. Even so, she managed a helpless smile.
"Just ask, what you have in mind."
Christian looked at her, his dissatisfaction still apparent.
"Was I really that bad in your eyes during our relationship? Bad enough for you to break up with me one-sidedly? Bad enough to hand me a whole evaluation list when you did it? I never really understood what I did wrong."
"You were never bad in my eyes," Claire replied with a small laugh. "You were my type seven years ago. Now, you're even more so."
She said it lightly, but her expression soon became more serious.
