Chapter 9 - Boring and drunk don't mix

The party wasn't boring per say, it was only boring to people who didn't understand the selfishness of politics. Hellan had left to find her man, Alex was missing and Shin was already in his tenth bottle. After finishing the first, he would occasionally snatch another random bottle from the barman. The intoxicating feeling wasn't really getting there even though he was drowning bottles faster than he could snatch them. The barman was trying his best to ignore the alcohol thief but even if he was nobility, he wanted to brake his hand or at least hit him once. The other nobles also chose to ignore him saying things like:

'Countryside idiot'

'Has he never seen alcohol'

'Typical of a lower class scum'

'From what house is he from?'

'Such a shame for his family'

'Can't the guards toss him out?' These high class snobs, sneered at Shin not bothering to hide their disdain. Too bad for them as Shin didn't really care. People had a way of setting rules to their lives and for nobles it was even worse. Don't sit this way, don't drink like that, smile, lie, take that poor commoners beautiful wife.

Nobles had a way of doing things. They weren't written down or anything, it was just the way they have always lived. And if you didn't behave as such among them, then they would outcast you or straight up attack and destroy everything you have. For them, seeing a noble guest such as Shin behaving like a hooligan made them believe he was a commoner who had snuck in. And this enraged them even more, nobles like it when those beneath them bowed and grovelled at their feet. When they had to beg them for everything even what was rightfully theirs. When they can take what they want with zero consequences and any commoner who behaved out of script was found dead together with their family. Through the innate fear of death, they controlled the masses. And their newest target was Shin, and they would have made a move if Linda didn't get there in time to save their pathetic lives.

'Cousin?' she was taking a gamble. She didn't know whether Shin would respond to her but lucky her, shin was soo drunk he responded to anything that sounded familiar. He looked up to Linda's eyes that were dancing with joy. He smiled happily and moved to hug her, something Linda was not expecting. The high class snobs started talking again:

'He's Cresworth's cousin?' Someone asked in disbelief.

'I didn't know he existed'

'With his terrible manners, it's no wonder they kept him hidden' Another lady said. Linda turned to her and not surprising, she was not beautiful. Linda glared at the lady who had a mole on her lower lip and who had caked her face in powder and makeup.

'Co…cousin…I hiccc…' Shin puked everything he had for supper on the royal carpeted floor. He gave Linda a grin and lay on her shoulder. 'I was bored' he said like a kid. Linda dint fight the urge to pat Shin's head. This seemed like a heart-warming time but, and a strong but, shin had puked in the royal palace. After a while in Linda's embrace, Shin dozed off. Linda watched the man sleep like a kitten on her bosom and couldn't help but smile. If any of these people knew who Shin was, they wouldn't dare talk as they were. Ignorance was like leaning on a blade, it might provide some support but ultimately it would pierce you.

Linda still had men to smile to so she couldn't watch the man sleep. She called for a maid and asked for help getting him back to their carriage. As the maid took the man away, the royals arrived. All five of them, The emperor, his three sons and the princess. They did not look pleased especially the old wrinkled man with grey hair. Linda, although didn't really respect the man, slightly bowed. They all looked at the vomit and then looked at Linda. By now most of the nobles had gathered around the beautiful lady with black hair and silver eyes. She tugged on her tight dress at the sides and tagged at her coat.

Here is where any respect she had for the Nurrs faded. They may be a dying dragon, even though they were still strong in a way, she feared Shin more. To cover Shins mistake, she was willing to disrespect everyone here because to her all it took was an idiot opening his moth thinking he was smart.

'Your majesty' she started. She didn't bother acknowledging his brats. The emperor wasn't really bothered with this, most of the people hear acted as such.

'Ms Cresworth' He respectfully greeted her. He then looked at the vomit on his royal floors and looked at Linda demanding an explanation. Maids were already cleaning the mess. Vomiting, spiting and any manner of vulgar behaviour was seen as a sign of disrespect. Many have gone to war over such behaviours. Linda might not acknowledge the emperor, but she didn't want to take him and his family on, currently but no one knew the future and she also had to keep Shin happy.

'I will formally apologize tomorrow' She folded and bowed to the old monster. The nobles around started murmuring she ignored them and smiled at the man.

''Happy birthday princess' She smiled at the beautiful young lady who was standing behind one of her brothers. 'If you'll excuse me…'

'Who is that young man?' The emperor although was old, had enough power and vitality to demand his share of respect. Linda was unfazed, she could walk away at any moment or she could use this opportunity.

'He is my cousin' Here, Linda was building Shin a new identity. The Cresworth family, the largest producers of rare gems and jewellery had a well-known name and as a product of that, they were a well-known family in the continent. Shin, was not known by anyone in this hall, even his hair wasn't black like the other children of the rose. So almost everyone didn't believe her, and the rest didn't really care about what was going on. They could have asked for more questions, but then again, what was it to them what whom was related to the Cresworths.

'Alright then, enjoy the party' the old monster left. The princes behind him looked at Linda for a while with mixed expressions, there was respect, disgust and lust. The older prince was known all over the capital for his playboy behaviour. The maids in this castle have at one time been forced onto his bed. Some noble ladies have fallen for his tricks. He went after anyone who was of the opposite gender. Now, he looked at Linda with a lust filled look. A look Linda did not fail to notice. Their eyes met and the look on Linda's face could have easily slaughtered demons. The prince wasn't even fazed, the fruits of growing up while getting everything you want on a silver platter. Linda was even wishing he would try something with either her or her sisters, She had already run several scenarios in her brain of what and how he would break the little man. The three brats followed their father and Linda turned around and left the party, it was boring anyway.

She got out of the palace. Her carriage was brought to her by the driver and a boy opened and held the door for her. She wasn't leaving, at least not without her sister, instead she was here to check up on Shin. The carriage was empty, Shin wasn't there. For a second, Linda panicked. She waved away the driver. She stood there at the palace stairs, where the only source was the dim lights from the lamps placed next to the palace gate. She inhaled sharply and released it all in one go. In times like this, she would easily lose control of her abilities. Like her little sister Alex, her tattoos were complete. Hers was a silver rose. Her sister's ability was a potent hypnotic drug, for Linda, her rose gave her an unbreakable defence, that and the silver needle like thorns that she d=grew from her rose vines. This was a powerful ability, only problem is that Linda's temper had a short fuse that was always lit. She had destroyed countless dresses just by losing her temper. She once almost killed a man he saw here naked after losing her temper for something Hellan had done. Lucky for the man, Hellan was there to save his skin. She looked around and found a maid, she called for her and she came running.

'Call my sisters for me' It was an order. Something a commoner had no power against. 'Also, have you seen a silver haired man?' The maid shook her head. 'Thank you' she dismissed the maid who left to look for Linda's sisters. The sky was starting to get covered in thick storm clouds. She decided to walk in the garden.

Meanwhile, while Linda was roaming around trying to find Shin, her sister Alex had her back to a wall. She was breathing heavily, her lips were slightly bruised. She had an innocent look on her face. If one looked closely, her eyes were a bit moist. Currently, there was a hand Toying with her thigh and it was snaking its way up her short dress. Alex, had worn a dark green dress and she had emeralds and sapphires for jewellery on her neck. Her hair was held up by ruby and gold pins. Her dress was too short, sexy yes, but too short for a noble lady. It was held up on her chest by some miracle as there was no strapping on it. Alex, unlike Hellan who had some weight on her, Alex was a petite lady with a thick behind and a full bust. Her dress shyly stopped at her thigh. She had high heels on. They too were decorated with silver threading, and a ruby butterfly, they were very steep. Alex knew she was a heaven defying beauty, she was confident because she came from a family that only had beauties.

The hand tried sneaking its way to her chest but she swatted the hand away. The man whom was busy enjoying the noble beauty didn't stop, instead he became daring and directly put his hand into Alex's short dress. Alex sighed. Behind her, there was a green rose that had a small green aura. This flower was releasing a green odourless gas. She held the man on both checks completely ignoring the man's hand that was now dangerously toying with weapons that should be left alone. Alex kissed the man roughly, she bit the man lips hard enough to draw blood. As the man enjoyed the kiss, he didn't realise Alex had a thorn on her tongue which she used to inject a green poison into the man.

After breaking the kiss, the man fell down. He was completely knocked out. Alex looked at the man with a look of disgust. He just like her was a noble born. Alex could have killed him to her, his only mistake was putting his hand where it didn't belong. Alex got rid of the green rose, fixed her short dress and left. The hickeys that were on her neck faded. In the dark hall of the Nurrs castle, only the clank of her heels could be heard. The rose vine tattoos that she proudly showed together with her cleavage seemed alive at this moment. The young lady was feeling a bit angry currently and thus affected her roses. As she got to the end of the hall, she pulled the pins holding up her hair and released it making it bounce as she walked. She got to the hall where the nobles were still socializing, some of them turned to her but she ignored them all. One could see the anger on her face, and why was she angry? Her sister Hellan, had sucked out of the party with her beloved. Also, she was drunk.
