The old grandmother knows more about the village situation than most people; after all, she's lived here since she was a child.
Now, when she talks about this matter with Ye Qiu, Zhou Wenting, and Ma Wenwen, she stands up and points outside, to the area where Ye Qiu took Zhou Wenting earlier in the morning.
"All those places used to be inhabited, all stone houses. But, over the years, no one maintained them, they all collapsed, and then trees were planted there."
Now when Ma Wenwen looks over, she only sees trees and bamboo groves, not any houses.
"And over here, from the village entrance to the end, it was all houses, now all gone too."
This made Zhou Wenting and Ma Wenwen look over in shock.
This snake-like winding village, from the entrance to the end, at least eight to nine hundred meters long, was all once houses, with many people living here.
"Grandmother, was there a landlord in the village before?"
Ye Qiu asked.
