Chapter 5 - chapter 5

The Nyxar Dominion have start to move there ships on the edge of there space. Admiral Nyra Driftshore got a promotion to Supreme Admiral now she was going in command of operation Divide. This what I know about her. Admiral Nyra Driftshore - The Iron Star of Xyrlaxis. Hailing from the coastal city of Selantria on the Aquilonis continent of Xyrlaxis, Nyra Driftshore spent her childhood gazing at the horizon from Cliffside storm towers where her ancestors once signalled warnings of sea invasions. Her family had a long history of service in the planetary defence forces, but Nyra broke new ground as the first to ascend from atmospheric command to commanding in space.

A remarkable strategist from an early age, she graduated at the top of her class from the Stellar War Academy of Virellis Spire, where she conceptualized advanced simulations for deep-space fleet movements still utilized today. Nyra gained widespread recognition for her calm leadership during the Vaelstrom Rift Crisis, where she brokered a ceasefire on a battered cruiser stranded between two warring fleets, propelling her into the spotlight.

In response to tensions between Aquilonis and Veridian, Nyra was appointed Fleet Admiral of the Aquilonis Outer Defence Grid, later rebranded as the Xyrlaxis Battle Fleet as warfare engulfed the planet's orbital areas. In contrast to many of her peers, she preferred precision over sheer might, earning the moniker "The Iron Star"-steadfast and resolute.

Though known as a hardened strategist, Nyra is committed to diplomacy and restraint. She made the difficult choice to stop the orbital bombardment of Port Zevin when intelligence indicated that civilians had not yet evacuated-an unpopular stance with the War Council, but one that gained her respect from both foes and friends.

Privately, Nyra suspects that a third entity, possibly the mysterious Nyxar Dominion, is manipulating the Aquilonis-Veridian conflict. She has been discreetly collaborating with neutral factions and rogue captains like Cassian Blackthorn to unearth the truth behind the sabotage of the Earth-bound mission that first disrupted the peace.

Her flagship, the VSS Aegir's Warden, is a dreadnought equipped with advanced stealth technology and long-range command systems, allowing her to execute multi-sector operations with remarkable accuracy. While her leadership style is exacting and strategic, those under her command admire her profound sense of duty and her willingness to forgo personal accolades for the benefit of Xyrlaxis.

Currently, Admiral Driftshore stands at a pivotal moment in history-she may either unify a divided world or become the last hope before it spirals into chaos. She invited me to her promotion ceremony her family was there to it was already official but this was to shoe the Nyxar Dominion how was in charge of our new fleet. It also sent a warning to the Nyxar's because her repatriation was ferrous with everyone. So that will keep them away for now. So the ceremony was a massive event it what all the glamorous you imagine. The room for it was and old theatre hall it held over 5,900 but it was reduced to 5000 for this ceremony. The Sovereign Accord in Xyntherra is a stunning and recognizable architectural gem. The exterior features a grand circular design made from red brick and stone, topped with a remarkable dome crafted from glass and iron. Its façade is embellished with detailed carvings and decorations, including arched windows and statues that lend it a classical and timeless quality.

The journey to the Sovereign Accord was hard to get there because of the security checks. They had six's check points along the way towards the building. All the other roads was blocked off so there one route in it would normally 1 to 2 minutes to work down to the Sovereign Accord. It took 10 minutes because of all the checks. There was banners going down both sides of the road with our planet crest on them. The was a military presence all the way down both sides of the road. There was a few protesters saying to stop the war and stop all building space ships. The security atmosphere was get stressful and get tension by checkpoint five there's body Scanners there was both military and private guards there was drones all over the place too. There was checking for any Nyxar Dominion infiltrators or synthesisers. As you get closer, you'll see the prominent portico supported by Corinthian columns, which leads to the entrance. Above this entrance, a magnificent frieze showcases various figures associated with the arts and sciences, highlighting the building's cultural importance. The hole event is shown on a huge holo-screen so the crowd outside and it also shown on our news channels too. The media we covering the event from news, entertainment and fashion channels. There was lots of reporters shouting questions about the event and the war.

Inside, the hall is equally impressive. The interior boasts a spacious, open layout and exceptional acoustics. The auditorium includes a large circular seating arrangement surrounding a central stage, with tiered rows of seating. The beautifully designed ceiling, with its intricate patterns and glass dome, allows natural light to pour in during the day. Elegant chandeliers provide additional illumination, enhancing the grandeur of the space. The Sovereign Accord is more than just a remarkable architectural site; it's a vibrant venue for music and performances, hosting a wide range of events from classical concerts to pop shows, all within this breath-taking setting.

The military was in full ceremonial dress it like a royal wedding or something like that. So me and Z was in smart dress well as smart dress I wore a tailored flight jacket, a refined echo of his battered leather one. Cut to a clean line in midnight black, it carried just a hint of silver piping along the seams. The hidden pockets and compartments were still there, of course, but disguised beneath the elegance of its sharp shoulders. Beneath it sat a high-collared tunic shirt, crisp in white with a subtle metallic sheen that caught the light when he moved. Cass left the collar open - a deliberate touch of rebellion - and on occasion rolled the sleeves just enough to remind people he was no courtier. His trousers were slim-cut, dark as the void, with quiet reinforcements stitched into the fabric: a smuggler's idea of formal wear, pressed sharp yet ready for a quick fight or quicker escape. Polished flight boots completed the ensemble, black leather with magnetic grips built for zero-G landings. To the untrained eye they gleamed with respectability, but a closer look revealed scuff marks - proof he hadn't bought them to impress anyone. Z was wearing Outer. A long, high-collared garment that blends the elegance of a flowing tunic with the precision of a tailored jacket. Its iridescent fabric shifts between deep blue and silver with every movement, mirroring and enhancing the tones of Z's skin. The cut is sharp and form-fitting, yet fluid, with flared cuffs that discreetly house holo-interfaces and hidden data ports. Woven not by hand but grown from living threads, the pale, luminescent weave clings comfortably to Z's frame. It breathes and regulates its own temperature, casting a faint glow in low light - lending him an almost ethereal. Graphite-gray trousers, slim and seamless, designed with subtle kinetic padding beneath the surface. They balance grace and practicality, exuding a refined alien aesthetic without slipping into the rigidity of militarism. Polished black boots fitted with low-hover stabilizers, each step releasing a ripple of soft energy across the floor. Adaptable and precise, they can magnetize in an instant for zero-G manoeuvres or planetary transitions - a subtle but unmistakably otherworldly flourish.

The Security was so tight you had five cheek points before you got anywhere near the place for the ceremony. I knew Elara and Vex was going to be there Vex did not have an official invite but she was Elara bodyguard. So she had to be there to make sure nothing would happen to Elara. If did happen she could get Elara and herself out of there as soon as possible. it was just fate that I was put next to Elara as we seen each other we smiled at each other. There was a little of bit of a sparks between us but neither of us reacted with it. She was never on my level that's what I thought she came from Verilonis Royal family.

There big fanfare music was playing as everyone entered into the ceremony room as everyone took their seats. The ceremony was attended by everyone in the was there from political establishment, high command and nobility too. It was something like out of a royal wedding or something like that. It even had a look like a film/music awards night to it. I was thinking why have I been asked to attend this ceremony? I not big on things like this plus I was just doing what I needed to earn money to live. I saw Drakey across the other side of the room I think he was thinking the same as me. We both looked at each other we both felt discomfort with all this pomp and ceremony. We both rather go to a bar and have some drinks. I even said to Z "why have we been invited to this thing". Z replied "maybe just to see you skerm at this kind of things" as bust out laughing at this situation. Then Z said to me "you humans celebrate birthdays every year. What's the point? It's like throwing a party for surviving gravity for one more year. I replied "It's called appreciating life. Z started laughing then said "You appreciate it by drinking until you forget half the year. Efficient." I saw Elara and Vex chuckling as us to then said to us "Z knows you to well." Plus I was persuaded to attended by official of my government to attended this thing. I even though it maybe if something went wrong I could people out of here fast. That's what kept telling myself anyway I just kept trying to convinces myself of that. I even asked Elara what am I here for? She replied "I don't know either we'll have to wait and see. That put in my mind that she knew something and not telling me. Elara turned to Vex I do know something as she whispered it to Vex.

They started they had a master of ceremonies tell us what going to happen in order and time schedule. Frist the procession of honoured guest the nobles, politicians, and high command entering in the order of importance and described like a grand parade. They called the cadets up how had graduated this years academy to presented with there graduation certificate and let there family's moment and applause them for passing out of the academy. It also made me think of my past when I graduated. So they was going to start with cadets how had graduate and any outstanding cadets awards. That's was quite quick running though them and they was a few outstanding cadets awards for distinction of Top Pilot is hereby granted to Talon Myrr. Talon Myrr is Young, sharp, and already carrying herself with the swagger of a pilot who knows she's destined for greatness. There's a restless, barely concealed thrill in the way she moves, as if every moment on the ground is just waiting to be traded for speed in the sky. When her gaze locks with me, it lingers a fraction longer than needed-steady, challenging, almost daring him to doubt she belongs among the stars. I needed remember that name just in case I need a top pilot at some day. There was a lot of outstanding awards from the academy this year. So the outstanding awards for engineering, sciences, Doctor/medical navigation, and linguistics. Then they gave out and over all outstanding award of the cadet of year it went to Talon Myrr lets hear it for Talon myrr!!!!.

Supreme Admiral's Oath spoken aloud about this person hows getting this award the Nyxar Riftbreaker Award gose to Nyra Driftshore. it is a big award and promotion for Admiral Driftshore her promotion to going to be Supreme Admiral. They already told her about her promotion and what she going to be in charge of and how many ships she was going to in charge of and what is her mission is going to be at the operation Divide. Her award was Nyxar Riftbreaker Award (it was awarded for victories against the Nyxar Dominion) they just hand this out to anyone. They also give her promotion Supreme Admiral pips too. Yet again a big appose and cheers too seemed to keep on going and going. The she did her speech which she was honoured to get this award and promotion and thanked her ship crew for helping her. She said "I would not be able to get this rewarded and promotion without my crew working with me too and there hard work.

She was asked to stay up and give out some special awards. These awards are going to the ones how done things above and beyond and not in military or government. She started with some of the awards like for the Heath and medicals, engineers and scientists. The she started about another award this is a special award that going to someone how is always to help anyone. As they kept talking about this person they said that they helped to move medical equipment between our civil war between us. My hart starting to pound fast and fast. As I realised they was talking about me. I was still thinking it not me It most be someone else they are talking about. As the kept saying how they helped with the peace process. Also added about the last battle with the Nyxar Dominion and what they did and helped to test new battlecruiser. Then they said about the Narvath Corridor record which had recently been broken unofficially because of bringing back recon information. He's one of the greatest pilots and he has one of the greatest co-pilot too. she kept dragging it out say stuff like how dependable he was and never late of anco-pilot. As I was thinking as i realizes they was talking about me my heartbeat was going so fast. Then I was in total denial they not talking about me. The Z nudging me saying its me they talking about you then starting smirking to. So now they handed the envelop to Supreme Admiral Driftshore and my friend. My hart was in my mouth as it was beating so fast as she starts to open the envelop as I don't like this kind of thing and making a big fuss about me then she gave a big purse it seemed to go on forever. The person how to reserve this rewarded goes to Lex Kaine. Everyone started to cheering and applause and it felt like everyone was looking at me. Some of the nobles was murmuring and some of the top military officers giving me sceptical looks, Elara looked at me and said to me "go on get your reward you deserve it". I replied back to her "I hate this kind of thin. I was just doing what was the right thing."

As I started to walk towards to the I felt nerves thinking I've got to a speech for this and I've not planned a speech. I could feel everyone eyes on me all the way up to the stage. As I got to stage feeling my face going red as kept walking then in my head I was thinking don't fall up the stairs the I got there I hate doing speeches. The medal was The Stellar Civitas Cross the cross was for none military personal for acts of bravery, leadership, or devotion to duty in the face of the enemy. They asked me to do a speech but I tried to get out of it. But I couldn't get out of it so I felt the pressure of the speech I knew I did awkward pause before I spoke. I felt my throat was dry my inner thoughts "don't faint don't fall" I thought I'd keep simple and short and sweet as I took a quick drink of water. I thanked Z, Drakey, Elara Vex's and everyone else. Then just I don't deserve this was just doing what was right thank everyone for this rewarded. Then they ask Z to get his rewarded it was the same as mine but he got away with the speech because he told them I don't speak our language. Then they gave everyone gave a massive ovation for us and then we all left the ceremony and carry on celebrating and enjoy the night until tomorrow.

There was a celebration banquet the banquet was amazing in the royal palace. The banquet was in the grand hall with soaring ceilings, its space lit by chandeliers, candelabras, or radiant crystal fixtures. The walls are draped with banners, crests, and rich tapestries depicting the kingdom's past, while in a futuristic flourish, holographic projections ripple and gleam overhead. The Table Arrangement: At the far end of the hall, a long, elevated head table commands attention, set high enough for the royal family and their distinguished companions to survey the gathering below. From this vantage, their presence looms over the grand rows of banquet tables stretching outward, where nobles, dignitaries, and honoured guests dine beneath the watchful gaze of their sovereigns. There was Harpists, lutenists, and even players of alien instruments weave a gentle backdrop of music, broken at times by ceremonial fanfares or formal announcements. Honour guards' line the chamber with rigid precision, while heralds proclaim each arrival. Servers glide through the space in practiced, synchronized movements, adding to the sense of ritual and order.

The food and drink The feast unfolded like a ceremony, each course arriving in careful succession. Attendants in gleaming attire glided between the tables, their trays carried on whispering grav-platforms.

The first dishes were light yet decadent: bowls of spice-dusted fruits that glowed with ripeness, rare cheeses laced with metallic veins, steaming soups perfumed with off-world herbs, and shimmering cuts of seafood still carrying the sheen of faraway seas.

The centrepiece came with spectacle. Entire creatures-resplendent birds bred for grandeur, tusked beasts from frontier worlds, and lab-grown echoes of long-vanished species-were brought forth whole, roasted to perfection. Their presentation was as much a display of dominion as of nourishment, with the carving done in plain view so none could miss the abundance.

Supporting dishes followed in elegant procession: vegetables glistening with sweet lacquers, baskets of fresh bread still warm, and sauces thick with imported spices that hinted at distant trade routes. The air grew rich with flavor, heavy with indulgence.

The final act was sweetness turned into art-gilded pastries stacked like spires, candied nuts sparkling with dusts of gold, delicate sugar sculptures shaped into impossible forms, and cakes layered high enough to rival the chandeliers above.

Drink never ceased to flow. Crystal flasks offered vintages older than dynasties, meads that shimmered faintly with energy, fruit nectars glowing in their cups, and liquors that seemed to burn with captured starlight. With every pour came a toast-ritual words carrying weight and meaning, binding the gathering in celebration and ceremony.

The Tableware: Lavish banquets saw meals served upon shining gold and silver platters, with jewel-studded goblets and the most delicate porcelain or crystal adorning the tables. On rare occasions, the presentation itself became a spectacle, with dishes carried on invisible forces or food that seemed to glow as if lit from within. Centrepiece's: The tables were graced with wonders-intricate sugar and ice carvings, rare floral displays, or carefully tended miniature gardens. At the height of ceremony, even living creatures, such as caged songbirds, might be unveiled and released to astonish the gathered guests.

The entertainment was after the banquet in the other grand hall which was just as grand as the banquet hall, we just been in. Performers: Where once jugglers, dancers, and bards might have filled the hall with praise, the future offers stranger marvels-shimmering holographic epics unfolding in mid-air, alien artists twisting their bodies or voices in ways no human could, each act designed to dazzle and honour the host. Ceremonial Acts: The evening's rhythm is broken by solemn addresses, the unveiling of rare and glittering gifts, or even staged contests-mock duels and ritual tournaments that turn diplomacy into spectacle.

The social rituals stuff what Elara was telling me about was a tradition and how long it had been going for it been like this for three hound years. So this is how it going to look like The banquet hall itself was a theatre of power. Where one sat was no accident-every chair a silent declaration of status. The closer a guest was placed to the monarch, the greater their prestige, while those relegated to the far edges of the table knew their influence was slipping.

Etiquette reigned as strictly as any law. Courtiers bowed with practiced grace, goblets lifted only when the monarch set the tone with a toast. Even the first bite of food was a ritual, none daring to taste before the ruler's hand moved.

Yet behind the glittering display of silver and song, the true business of the evening unfolded in hushed voices. Promises were bartered between courses, rivalries sharpened beneath polite smiles, and alliances were weighed and tested over wine that flowed more freely than truth. The feast was spectacle, but the whispers were war.

As we was coming towards the night Nyra come to me and asked "me if we can have a talk to you about the operation Divide. What I'd like you do to help me with the start of the operation. But we leave there I'll let you enjoy the rest of the night I'll see tomorrow on my ship ok". I replied "no probs". Then I walked back into the hall I hear some of the nobles and high racking officers . "Saying that a smuggler like me should not of been honoured with such medal like the Stellar Civitas Cross".

Then I was Elara was me looking uncomfortable she walked towards me and asked me to walk out side on to the balcony the view from here was amazing of the city at night. the city look like its name Orryssae it look like. From the highest terrace of the royal citadel, the Veridian capital unfurled below like a vast, living organism, its skyline twisting and rising as though the city itself had grown from the earth. Towering spires arched upward in elegant curves, clad in bio-fiber skins that shimmered faintly with inner light-structures not so much built as nurtured into existence. Bridges of root-metal stretched between them like living veins, carrying streams of whispering hovercraft that flowed as softly as wind moving through leaves. The streets were less rigid avenues than flowing currents-broad ribbons of polished stone threaded with glowing moss, casting a shifting glow of emerald and violet. At the junctions, market squares blossomed like petals, their spans crowned by canopies of living crystal while holographic vines drifted overhead, swaying as if to some unseen rhythm. Alongside them, bioluminescent trees rose from the ground itself, their branches woven with luminous data streams that rippled through the air like strands of living code.

Farther out, the districts bent upward toward the boundary of a colossal dome that sealed the city. Its translucent surface gleamed with ever-changing patterns, like the shifting skin of some vast celestial being. Beyond the barrier stretched fertile plains-engineered fields rich with triple harvests and dotted with towering wind-blooms, their delicate petals turning with the breeze to feed the city's energy grid. Suspended above all this drifted aerial gardens tethered by anti-gravity anchors, their waterfalls spilling into the sky and dissolving into glowing mist. At night, the gardens themselves became constellations, alive with thousands of softly shining blossoms. The capital did not simply gleam against the darkness-it seemed to breathe, a forest of stars rooted in Veridian soil.

Elara and I was look out at the view I was thinking was there something between us a spark. It just felt right and comfortable between us she asked me "Where am I from how's my parents do I know anything about your passed". I replied I don't know anything I was an orphan my mum die at my birth and my dad I think die before that in a battle or something like that" She replied "ok I am so sorry for asking you" I replied its ok should we go back inside". So we went back in the Z court my eye like hinting that he know what I was up to with Elara. That not going to happen between with someone like Elara and a smuggler like me.

It still feels strange that we are having celebration and glamour even with war still looms with Nyxar Dominion and what ever is in the shadows is feels like something that we have not seen yet. I still feel uncomfortable reserve the medal for doing something that felt the right thing to in the first place. But and I know more ordinarily citizens would be dragged into this at some point and they would be honoured to like me.
