"Reshiram, prepare for battle!"
Dylan flicked his luxury ball with practiced ease. A flash of white light later, a magnificent dragon blanketed in pure white took to the field.
A melodious, resonant dragon cry echoed throughout the gym. The white dragon, Reshiram, spread its grand wings just slightly, its icy blue eyes cool and elegant as it stared down the black dragon, Zekrom.
A wave of searing pressure filled the arena—the glow of truth shimmering faintly across Reshiram's body as it stood face-to-face with Zekrom.
"The legendary Dragon Pokémon—Reshiram, the Dragon of Truth!!"
Iris practically exploded with excitement, her eyes sparkling madly at the dazzling sight of this ethereal, flawless dragon.
Too beautiful!!
She scanned Reshiram from top to tail, utterly mesmerized, unwilling to miss even the tiniest detail. It looked like a work of art given life.
"Reshiram is just… breathtaking~"
Even Alder, who'd seen it before, couldn't help but sigh. No matter how many times you looked, its sheer beauty was astonishing. That noble air, the otherworldly elegance—it was on a completely different level.
Sure, Zekrom was powerful and imposing, but visually? It didn't hold a candle to the stunning white dragon.
And this… this was the showdown. Truth vs. Ideals.
"The real thing…"
N's eyes gleamed—this was the real deal. And this time, it was a genuine clash of Truth and Ideals.
"It's our first time letting Reshiram and Zekrom face off like this, right? About time we settled things."
Dylan caught the rebounding ball and smiled at N.
It was true. Though he'd had Reshiram for quite a while, this was their first official battle against N's Zekrom.
This was the showdown recorded in Unovan legend. A battle destined to happen.
"Yeah!"
N pushed his hat up, eyes blazing.
Today, Dylan would feel the full force of his ideals! He could feel Zekrom's intensity surging beside him too.
Zekrom, indeed, was locked in a deadly stare with Reshiram—electric tension crackling between the two. And then...
The real fight began.
White Dragon: Black Dragon! Finally showing your face, huh? You cowardly little lizard!
Black Dragon: ???
White Dragon: You fled last time! Today, I'll show you what REAL looks like!
Black Dragon: Heh. Without Kyurem? What a joke.
White Dragon: Even without our "big brother," I'll beat you down!
Black Dragon: And what do YOU have besides shiny feathers?!
Zekrom was practically vibrating with fury. That smug white fluffball thought it could beat him?
Blue lightning arced across his body—an aura of doom building.
But then—
A sickly purple glow crept up his legs.
The second wave of Toxic had arrived.
Zekrom's eyes narrowed. This one hurt.
And Reshiram saw it—a weakness.
"Wuuu~!"
Without even waiting for Dylan's command, Reshiram roared, firing a rippling Dragon Pulse straight at the black dragon.
"Zekrom!" N's eyes sharpened.
Zekrom tried to rise, lifting slightly to evade, but Reshiram's timing had been too perfect. The attack landed—BOOM!
Zekrom let out a grunt, blasted back, having barely escaped a full hit.
But the damage was significant.
That damn white snake… it ambushed me!
"Dragon Claw!"
N snapped, refusing to let this go unanswered.
Zekrom charged, claws glowing with green-blue energy.
Dylan's expression didn't change. He simply said:
"Imprison."
"What?!"
N's face froze.
"Zekrom, stop it!" he shouted, realizing too late.
Reshiram flapped its wings and backed away. An "X"-shaped sigil glowed before sinking into its body—Imprison activated.
Zekrom's Dragon Claw struck Reshiram, causing it to cry out. But behind those cold sapphire eyes, there was no pain—only satisfaction.
Because the spell was complete.
Zekrom's Dragon-type moves were now sealed.
"…You've gotta be kidding."
Alder sucked in a sharp breath.
"That's cold-blooded."
Even Iris was stunned.
She'd just seen Reshiram's and Zekrom's moves listed on the Rotom Dex. Aside from the Fire/Electric difference, the rest of their sets were nearly identical.
Now? Zekrom couldn't use any Dragon moves. Not even Earthquake or Rock Slide.
Reshiram had sealed it all.
All Zekrom had left was… Thunderbolt.
"That's just brutal."
Iris winced. What was Zekrom supposed to do now?
N was quiet. Very quiet.
He'd imagined this would be an intense, passion-filled duel. But now?
"This is your Truth, huh… Dylan?"
"Dragon Pulse."
Dylan ordered calmly.
Reshiram let loose another azure burst.
"Thunder!"
N responded, unwilling to give up.
The two blasts collided mid-air—crackling and shrieking in a blinding clash.
But soon, Dragon Pulse overwhelmed Thunder and slammed straight into Zekrom.
And then—
The third wave of Toxic hit.
Zekrom shuddered as purple venom blazed across its body, stronger than ever before.
This one hurt. Bad.
Alder and Iris both grimaced. The black dragon was really suffering now.
"Dragon Pulse."
Another wave. Another shot.
Zekrom tried to dodge but couldn't—his movements were sluggish.
Boom!
The blast hit. Zekrom roared in pain—his massive body crashing to the ground.
Luckily, he didn't trigger Toxic Spikes—probably because his earlier Discharge had blown the whole battlefield to bits.
Reshiram hovered overhead, eyes glinting with smug superiority.
"Wuu~ (Heehee~ Black Dragon! What are you gonna do against me?)"
She circled above him proudly, victorious.
Zekrom clenched his jaws—utterly humiliated.
"Zekrom! Fusion Bolt!"
N realized this couldn't continue. They had to close the gap.
Zekrom's turbine roared to life, blue lightning wrapping his body like armor.
The black dragon shot forward with dazzling speed—his trump card engaged.
Even if Fusion Bolt wasn't very effective, it could still break through Reshiram's spam from up close.
But—
"Protect."
Dylan's voice cut like a knife.
Reshiram drifted backward, a green shield forming in front of her.
BOOM!
Fusion Bolt slammed into Protect, brilliant arcs of blue energy exploding outwards.
The barrier held.
N clenched his teeth.
One second… two… three…
Fusion Bolt faded, and Reshiram immediately retreated again, not even trying to counterattack.
"Again! Fusion Bolt!"
N had no choice—he had to chase.
Normally he'd go for Dragon Claw, but… Imprison had sealed it.
Blue lightning surged once more—but then—
Purple light.
Toxic hit again.
Dylan's eyes flickered.
"Dragon Pulse."
Reshiram obeyed, her fourth burst of dragon energy racing toward Zekrom.
"Zekrom!!"
N shouted—but there was no escape.
Boom!!
Zekrom crashed again—slamming into the ground like a meteorite.
Dust filled the air.
Above him, Reshiram hovered—completely fine. In fact, she looked gleeful.
Iris was speechless.
And on the field, N stood frozen. His body was trembling slightly, arms shaking.
"Dylan…"
N stared across the field.
This man… this battle…
He would never forget it.
