Chapter 46
There was a reason he had fearlessly entered this place. There was a reason his confidence has shot through the roof recently. He was far different than he was moments ago. Something had clicked in him once he escaped the banshee.
In a silent tone, he chanted, "My breath on the altar. My resolve as my blade. I call upon—"
Before he could finish his chant, something surprising took place that left him tongue tied.
The monster stood still across the river. Its attention was fully on Peter Parker, but Raven felt its demonic eyes glance over a couple times. With a rather unusual pensive expression, the monster scowled and retreated into the distance.
Even as its figure vanished, Raven and Peter Parker clenched their fist, waiting for the unexpected. But that never happened, the monster wasn't coming back.
"What just happened? It left us for no reason," Raven raised his brows.
