Leo's eyes widened slightly.
He looked at her as if she had just spoken the most important words he had ever heard.
"Awaa?" he repeated softly.
His daughter moved her mouth again, producing another tiny sound as her fingers brushed his cheek.
A quiet laugh escaped him.
"Oh, I see. You have a lot to say to Papa, don't you?"
The midwife smiled at the scene.
"She seems quite happy now."
Leo barely heard her. He was too busy watching his daughter, who had settled comfortably against him and seemed entirely satisfied with the arrangement.
He adjusted his hold carefully, supporting her little head as he brought her closer to his chest.
"All right, Princess," he whispered, brushing his cheek lightly against her tiny hand. "Papa is here."
He glanced at his son, who remained in the midwife's arms, then looked back at his daughter.
"But you have to share me with your brother, understood?"
The little girl responded with another soft, unintelligible sound.
"Awaa..."
