Kim Min-Ho POV (Point Of View)
"Hyung?" I said, still in shock. Min Hyun walked to me with a smile on his face, "Ah, Min-ho, it's been a long time since I saw your face. You are taller now." He teased. A loud sound was heard behind me.
I turned to see my mum standing there in shock, with her hands covering her mouth, her handbag on the floor, "Min Hyun?" She said, eyes wide. Min Hyun left my side and went to my mom.
"Mom! How have you been?" He asked. My mom dropped her hands from her mouth and pulled Min Hyun into a hug, "Oh my precious son, how have you been? It's been years since you came back to Korea. The States made you forget about your home, right?" She scolded.
Min Hyun let out a chuckle and looked at my mom, "I'm sorry, Mum, work made me distracted, I've been getting a lot of projects, so I was swamped. I was even surprised that Dad suddenly wanted me back in Korea to manage the company here." He said, looking at my dad, who sat calmly on the couch.
The smile on my mom's face dropped, as if she had realised something, and she gave my dad a knowing look. I also understood that look. My dad stood up from the couch and walked over to me.
"Your brother was the one who requested that you come back to Korea. He said that he misses you, so I had to fulfil my youngest son's wishes, even if it will cause me a lot of issues." He said to Min Hyun, but his eyes never left mine.
"Really? Min-ho misses his hyung that much?" Min Hyun teased, pulling me into a headlock. I struggled out of his hold, laughing and suffering at the same time. My mom smacked his arm, "Stop bullying your brother. Are you hungry? I'll go make Gamjatang. It's still your favourite, right?"
Min Hyun nodded and hugged my mom, following her to the kitchen. I was left with my dad and tense silence. I made a move for the stairs, but my dad suddenly spoke up, "I brought your brother to you, now you know what you have to do. Tomorrow is a weekend, why don't you take Arin on a date?"
I stayed silent and let out a sigh before climbing the stairs to my room. I dropped my bag on the floor and dropped myself on my bed. I ruffled my hair in anger and heard a knock on my door.
Before I could say 'come in', Min Hyun walked in. "What happened to your hair?" He chuckled. I sat up and scooted a bit so he could sit on my bed. "How was the States hyung?"
I said, trying to stir up a meaningful conversation. Min Hyun nodded before replying, "It was... good?" "Why are you saying that, like you are trying to convince yourself that it was?" I teased.
Min Hyun chuckled and got up from my bed when something caught his eye. "What is this?" He picked up a frame from my desk and showed it to me. It was a picture of me and Arin during our engagement party.
"Oh, that. You don't know?" I said, sounding confused. Min Hyun stared at the framed picture in confusion. "Is this Arin?" 'Wow, he has no clue.' I said to myself.
I got up and walked to him, "Well, Arin and I are engaged. I thought Dad informed you?" He looked up from the picture, "No? I'm just finding out now." I nodded, and I huffed out in annoyance.
"I can't believe him," I said to myself. "Are you angry that I didn't wish you well on your engagement?" Min Hyun said, sounding guilty. "No, I was just shocked that Dad never told you about it." I shook my head.
"Min hyun! Food is ready!" My mom yelled from downstairs. "You have collected my spotlight." I huffed. Min Hyun chuckled before leaving my room. I let a sigh before going to freshen up.
Lee Ji Seo's POV (Point Of View)
I woke up to the noise of the vacuum cleaner. I sat up in my bed and checked the time on my nightstand: "8:00 AM." I stared at the digital clock with irritation. My bedroom door opened, and my mom walked in.
"Hey, Ji seo. Oh, you're up? That's unlike you." My mom said with disbelief. I glared at her, "Of course I'm up. Your cleaning woke me up." "It's a good thing it did. You have to help your granny at the restaurant today, because you came back from school very late yesterday, so you couldn't help her out. What made you come home late?" She asked.
Yesterday's events flashed through my head, 'Oh, that's right. I didn't tell her what happened.' I said inwardly. "Oh, I was doing some extra-curricular activities-"
"Oh really? What activities?" My mom said, cutting me off. "Uhm, music," I answered nervously. My mom stared at me narrowly, arms folded. I could tell that she is trying to see if I'm lying, "So, yeah, uh, is dad home?" I asked, switching topics.
"Oh yeah. He just came in this morning from his night shift." She nodded, dropping her arm. I nodded. "Freshen up and go help your granny at the restaurant," he said before she left my room.
I breathe out a sigh of relief, "Arin should be grateful that I am covering up for her; my mom wouldn't go easy on her if she finds out." I whispered to myself. I freshened up and went downstairs to have breakfast.
My dad was already at the dining table having breakfast. "Good morning, Dad. How was work?" I said, walking to the cabinet to get myself cereal. After pouring some into a bowl, I went to take my seat.
"Your mom told me that you came home late." My dad spoke up, lifting his eyes from his phone to look at me. I nodded before responding, "Yeah. I had some extracurricular activities, so that's why I came home late." I stood up and went to the fridge to get milk for my cereal.
"Oh really? So why did your teacher message me asking me if you are 'better now'?" My dad said. I paused my movements and looked at him sharply, "Oh, uh, you see, I had a serious headache yesterday, so maybe that's why he is asking if I'm okay now." I blabbered out.
My dad stared at me, not saying a word, and I knew that he knew I was lying. I sighed in defeat and told him everything. When I was done, he let out a sigh and shook his head, "This Arin girl, if she becomes a serious issue for you, don't hesitate to tell me. Okay?" He said with a raised brow.
I nodded and took my seat. Pouring milk into my cereal bowl, a thought came into my head, "Ah, Dad, could you please do me a favour?" I spoke nervously. "What is it? You don't want me to tell your mom, right?" He asked with a raised brow, already knowing what I wanted to ask him.
"Don't tell me what?" My mom spoke up, entering the kitchen. My dad's eyes widened in shock. "Uh, it's a secret." I silently sent my dad a thank you with my eyes, and he nodded with understanding.
My mom put her hand on her waist and glared at my dad harshly, which made him shift in his chair uncomfortably. He glanced at me shortly, and I shook my head subtly, "Well-" "Dad is taking you on a date since you guys have a free day today." I spoke up, cutting off my dad.
"Eh? Really?" My mom squealed with delight. I nodded and looked at my cereal bowl, ignoring the look my dad was giving me. "Oh, thank you, my love!" My mom squealed and kissed my dad.
"Let me go freshen up, then." She said with a smile before rushing upstairs. I looked up from my bowl, and my dad was giving me the harshest glare ever, "What? It's your fault for almost telling her." I defended.
My dad let out a deep sigh and shook his head in defeat. "Where am I supposed to take her to now?" I shrugged, "That sounds like a you problem. But knowing you, you'll think of something." I said, getting up from the chair and putting my empty bowl in the sink.
"I'm off to work. Bye, Dad." I waved goodbye to my dad and left the house. I arrived at my grandma's restaurant, and I paused my footsteps when I saw Taemin dropping a plate on a customer's table. Running in, I went and dragged him away from the table.
"What are you doing here?" I said with a glare. He looked down at his clothes and then back at me, "Uhm, working?" That's when I noticed that he was wearing the restaurant's uniform. "Oh, Ji seo, you're here?" My grandma said, walking up to us.
I greeted her before focusing my attention on Taemin, "Why did you come in today? You should have rested more." Taemin said, folding his arms. I shook my head, "It's boring at home, so I decided to come here and make my lazy self useful."
"If you were sick, you could have just stayed at home." My grandma said with worry. I shook my head, "If I'm not here, then who is going to help you in the restaurant?" "Taemin, of course. He works here."
My eyes widened in shock, and I turned to Taemin sharply, "WHAT?!!" "Don't turn too sharply, Ji seo, you might give yourself a Whiplash." He said with a mischievous grin. "HE WORKS HERE?!" I yelled and everyone in the restaurant looked at me. I quickly gave them a 'sorry' before turning to my grandma.
"Yes, isn't that nice of him?" My grandma said, giving Taemin a sweet smile. Taemin mirrored her smile, and I rolled my eyes. "He can't work here," I said, shaking my head. "Don't say that, Ji seo. He is very useful here. He is working the register while you serve the food. He just decided to serve the food because you weren't here."
At that moment, a customer walked in, "Time to get back to work, co-worker." Taemin teased and walked past me to the register. I screamed internally before walking to the restroom to change into my work clothes.
