An hour had passed since the tea incident.
It was still late morning, but to everyone waiting outside Tatiana's room, it felt much longer.
The palace had become unusually quiet.
The moment Tatiana had fallen down the stairs, everything had changed. Servants had rushed to help her while someone was sent to call the doctor. Yelena had followed close behind, crying and calling for help.
Now, she sat beside Tatiana's bed, holding her hand.
Her eyes were red from crying.
"Oh, my lady," she whispered. "Poor my lady."
She gently squeezed Tatiana's hand.
"Why is life so unfair to you?"
Yelena wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
"You don't deserve any of this."
Tatiana remained unconscious.
Near the door, Katherine stood quietly, waiting for the doctor to finish examining her.
She had been there for almost an hour.
She knew something was wrong.
Not because Tatiana had fallen.
She already knew the truth about Tatiana's pregnancy.
There had never been a baby.
