Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

it was raining, heavy enough that my clothes would get drenched and soaked in water. i stood in slience, unable to speak out a word. i wasn't able to move my own body, even my hands. there was a vast space around me, below my feet was a rough, rocky surface and it was dark. there was only a small peak of light above me, with glowing fireflies. i looked down, and saw a dead body.

An appearance of a young boy, neck slitted and a decaptated left arm, eyes open without a spark of life in them, his body tarted with scars. it didn't take me a moment to realize who it was. the hair, facial feature; it was my twin. i froze that moment. My heart sank down and felt painfully ticklish, i was frightened that moment.

there was a faint thumping sound in the distance, Like a heartbeat making it's pace at my direction. it became so loud that it rung my eardrums hard. I moved my hands, shifting them to my ears and kept a firm grip on them, shutting every sound off.

I struggled to keep myself calm ,sweating from fear. A thud came in, and everything went black. I wondered if i had collapsed from shock, but then opened my eyes.

I looked around, i was in my bed lying down. my phone was buzzing at my side. i dawned to realization, it was just a dream; or should i say a nightmare, a terrible one in that. i sat up and calmed myself down, maintaining my composure back and wiped my forehead. i checked the time in my phone and was flabbergasted. it was 8:55, and i had to start highschool today.

i rushed out of bed, and got ready with what time i had left. i stormed out of the house, locked the door and ran in the pathway. few minutes ahead and i reached the school. the gate was almost being closed by the security guard. i panicked and shouted, "wait please!". the security guard was startled, and opened the door just enough to let me through.

i was relieved and stopped running, as i began catching my breath a bit. i faced up a bit, the pleasant breeze blowing through my hair, and leaves were falling down. I felt like i was the main spotlight of a movie, then convinced myself that I'd never be one.

there were a few students entering the building still. i was relieved, and though to myself, "i wasn't too late then.." my eyepatch was a few inches from falling, and i tied it back and adjusted it, having a sense of hope that no one would question it.

i entered the building as well, and looked around. the atmosphere seemed lively, there were constant sounds of conversations and cackling from few groups of students. i honestly felt jealous, i wanted to have a friend group as well at the starting. there were also a few chatters about me, probably wondering that i'm new around.

A girl approached me, she had a vivid hue of dark violet at the tip of her hair, and had bangs on just one side. I assumed her to be a pupil leader. she spoke up first, in a questioning tone, "hey, are you new?". i replied without second thought, "yeh, why do you ask?". I knew it from her tone she's being perfect at her role, while i grew tired after already hearing her stern tone.

the girl replied back, "you forgot your tie." i stood there confused, and looked at my collar, i seemed to have forgotten my tie while rushing. i gave a sheepish expression and rubbed the back of my hair, responding back, "sorry, i was rushing thinking i was late for school."

That young girl didn't consider it, and checked my appearance. she noticed my eyepatch and questioned me again, "what's with that eyepatch you got?"

i stuttered a little, the most awkward thing to have in a conversation while replying to her question, "u-uh this? i-it's of personal matter-" she spoke up, which didn't let me finish my sentence. "Show me the reason," she responded, while reaching out to my eyepatch. i swatted her hand out of instinct, "it's of personal matters, i'm sorry," i added, a hint of sternity in my tone.

She responded back, with an accusing tone "why? you scared of being bullied?" the words had no bite, but they gave a certain chill to my spine. i wondered to myself, was i this weak? my hand which was raised up from swatting her hand started trembling, and i clenched my jaw to prevent that.

i spoke through gritted teeth, "i'll kill you!".

The alarm suddenly rang, at the first day. the school started to crumble, the speaker calling out about an earthquake starting to waver. there were cries and shoutings all around me. i was confused and horrifed at the same time, my body gave out on me. the debris kept coming from all sides, some students were buried and some were severely injured, almost to the brink of death.

i stood there, with my body given up on me. i looked up and saw a few large pieces of debris falling over me, i hit my head and blacked out completely. i was able to retrive my consciousness only a tiny bit, there was debris all around, but half on my body was covered by it.

there were various polices and medical teams, some were carrying injured people and dead bodies. my head hurts, feeling the warm blood streaming down from my forehead.

a few group of unrecognised people saw me in the debris and picked me up. i tried to look at them, but my vision was blurry. the man i was leaning on stared at me for a good few minute, for what i was able to make out in my vision, wondering if i'd pass out afain. and his instinct was right.
