Nishitama City - The Tokiwa Twin Towers.
"It's so tall!" "I can't even see the top!" "It looks like it's built in the clouds!"
The kids stood below, their heads tilted up, chattering with excitement.
"It's an eighty-eight story building, so it's gotta be at least four hundred meters tall," Fujino said, squinting a bit as the sunlight reflected off the two buildings soaring into the clouds. A building that high is a rare sight in Tokyo. In the real world, a three-hundred meter building would be a stretch, let alone a four-hundred meter one. They'd probably be infringing on their great benefactor's airspace.
"Fujino-senpai is right," Sonoko Suzuki nodded. "The Twin Towers have eighty-eight stories. I don't know the exact height, but it's definitely the tallest building in Japan right now."
"The tallest building in Japan?!" Kogoro Mouri was a little dazed. He sighed, "I can't believe my old classmate is doing so well. You couldn't tell when we were in college..."
Ran's brow furrowed, and she gave him a pointed look. "Dad!"
"Ahem! Anyway, let's go inside!" Kogoro cleared his throat awkwardly. He then turned to lecture the kids. "Don't cause any trouble once we get in there!"
"Okay!" The kids responded half-heartedly, clearly not listening. All they could think about were the video games!
"Honestly..." Kogoro grumbled under his breath. "Why did these kids have to come along?" His daughter and her friend were with them, and having Fujino was no problem. Four people were easy to manage, but with all these kids, there were nine of them in total, and that was giving him a headache. The classmate they were meeting was a big company president, and it would be bad if his image was ruined by these kids!
"Excuse me, are you Mr. Kogoro Mouri?" a gentle voice came from behind them.
Fujino turned around. A woman in a blue business suit, with white stockings and black high heels, had come out of the building.
"That's right, I am!" Kogoro adjusted his tie, concerned about his appearance.
"I'm Chinami Sawaguchi, the president's secretary," Chinami said, bowing slightly. She looked at the group with curiosity before continuing. "The president is in a meeting with a client right now, so she asked me to take you all to the exhibition hall first."
"Thank you, Miss Sawaguchi!" Kogoro replied with a smile.
Chinami then led the group into the Twin Towers.
"This is Tower A of the Twin Towers. From the thirty-first floor and up, it's all for the Tokiwa Group's offices. The exhibition hall is on the second and third floors." Chinami explained as she led them past the lobby and onto the elevator to the second floor.
The exhibition hall on the second floor was full of futuristic-looking displays with all kinds of weird and wild-looking game machines, some of which hadn't even been released to the public yet.
"The technology here is... pretty advanced..." Fujino mumbled as he walked up to a glowing cylinder and stared at the vibrant holographic projection inside. Even in his previous life, he had never seen such a complete and polished holographic game. The technology in the world of Detective Conan had always baffled him. Computers were still big and bulky, but they had holographic video games. He wouldn't be surprised if they still had big, clunky computers after the invention of smartphones.
"That's right. You could say we're a company at the forefront of technology. All the games we have on display are our latest creations," a friendly-looking man in a brown suit and glasses said as he walked into the hall and started a conversation with Fujino.
"Mr. Hara." Chinami turned and greeted the man. She then introduced him to the group. "This is our company's director and engineer, Yoshiaki Hara."
"Hello," Yoshiaki Hara said with a smile. "I've heard that Detective Fujino and Detective Mouri are good friends. I see it's true."
Fujino looked at Yoshiaki, a few things coming to mind. In his memory, Yoshiaki was also a member of the Black Organization. But like Akemi Miyano, Yoshiaki was just an outlying technician and didn't have much contact with the organization's business. He just created some of the organization's software. But because he was in the dark about a lot of things, he felt brave enough to betray the Black Organization. He even foolishly used the building's computer server to transfer some of the organization's data... which is how Gin found out and came looking for him. You could say it's just like the Black Organization, all talk and no real substance.
Yoshiaki Hara seemed to be a fan of detectives, and he didn't seem flustered at all by their presence. In fact, he seemed a little excited? After a brief conversation, Yoshiaki's attention shifted away from Fujino and Kogoro. He was drawn to the kids gathered around a strange-looking machine.
"What is this?" "It looks like a game machine?"
Mitsuhiko, Genta, and Ayumi were gathered around a machine with two seats and a yellow-orange upright screen in the middle, looking at it with curiosity.
"It's a time machine!" Yoshiaki walked over and said with a smile. "To be precise, it's a machine that can show you what you'll look like in ten years..."
"It can show you what you'll look like in ten years?" Hiroshi Agasa was intrigued. He walked over to examine it for a moment, then exclaimed, "This thing is amazing!"
Fujino just stared. So you actually figured out the science behind it? That's what you call "Conan-Science!" Fujino shook his head, completely baffled. He gave up on trying to understand it.
Agasa and Ayumi were the first to try it out, sitting in the chairs to see what they would look like in ten years. They sat in the chairs on either side of the machine, and a white helmet with a face shield that flashed with lights descended over their heads. It looked very futuristic.

The sound of a camera shutter went off, and the futuristic feel was gone. At the same time, photos of what they would look like in ten years popped out of the machine. Fujino leaned in to take a look. As expected, Agasa's photo looked no different from how he looked now. Fujino began to wonder if this old man was the Black Organization's true big boss, and he'd just taken some kind of immortality elixir to become a god.
"He looks exactly the same!" "Is this machine broken?"
Genta and Mitsuhiko obviously couldn't believe Agasa would look the same in ten years, and they asked the question with some doubt.
"No, the machine isn't broken," Conan said, standing with Ran and Sonoko next to Ayumi. He motioned to the others. "You'll understand if you come and look at Ayumi's photo."
