As soon as Nathan heard Luciel say that he came to train, or more specifically, to spar, he was genuinely surprised.
He already knew Luciel was strong. The way he fought the mutant birds yesterday had been clean, efficient, and almost elegant.
With just one or two swipes of his sword, the mutant birds dropped. Nathan couldn't help but admire it. He really wanted to be able to do something that cool—but unfortunately, he wasn't that good with swords yet.
His control over fire, especially forming it into stable shapes, wasn't very consistent either, especially when it came to maintaining them for a long time. So he couldn't pull off the same things Luciel did.
Luciel was undeniably powerful, but it often went unnoticed because most of the time, he didn't do much of anything.
He didn't join in killing zombies or mutant animals during regular missions. He also didn't train with them. Most of the time, he was either resting or doing something leisurely.
