Chapter 21 - The Lord of Endless Moon – The Sanctuary of Aise

In the deep forest, some demons were escaping from the Knight. They ran as if they knew the forest very well. Gunshots were fired at them. Since a few of them—maybe four—were well-trained, they managed to escape. They soon reached a shrine. When they saw it, they felt they had found it.

A female spoke up, "So this is the shrine the prophet mentioned. Today he will reappear again. We must find him soon. Others may not believe this, but for some reason, he agreed to work with us."

The shrine door was closed. The third person used his magic of EverGreen to weaken the wooden door. When they got inside, they closed it as well, making it harder to open from outside. The fourth one, small in size compared to the others, said, "You know they cannot follow us here. This forest has many sleeping Kailo. They won't make a move."

The female said again, "Be prepared for anything. We may die on this journey, but finding him is our priority."

They all saw the door and two staircases on either side. They thought of entering the door. But as they got closer, they could feel something unusual. When the third one used his magic once again, it did not work. Their reaction was as if they had expected this. All four joined together and pushed the door. Little by little, they moved it. Soon, it became slightly lighter, and they could see a person—or more like a real human—sitting on a throne.

The door opened as if someone was pushing it from inside. A group of four human-like figures appeared—some big, some small, some medium-sized. When they saw him, they were shocked. The Elif was the first to speak.

"Who are you?"

"I am a normal person, I think…"

In a blink of an eye, a spear-like object came at him. To their surprise, it passed through him or was completely absorbed by him. He thought, What just happened? But he could see his health increasing with time. The group was shocked at this. They confirmed his identity and soon said,

"The Lord of Endless Moon, welcome back."

They knelt before him in a gesture of honor. He did not understand what was happening but went along with the story. He walked down the throne and soon saw a field—more like a mana field generator—stretching in all directions. The old shrine gradually returned to its former glory. Most of the tree leaves growing inside the shrine needed to be removed.

He asked them to stand and tell him what had really happened from the start. She began,

"So, from the prophet our ancestors left, it was said that the Lord of Endless Night would return today. We are the people of Aise, once called the guardians of the lower realms. During the great war, people from the North Continent used their forces and technology to eliminate our kind and our neighboring races. It continued for 200 years. During this time, we hid and protected our kind from them. It has not been fair for us. The South Continent has Kailo more than any other. We have suffered, but we never gave up. We hoped for a day to come when someone would save us from this cycle. And now we are here to ask for your help."

When he heard that, he soon understood the situation and why these people were here. Since he saw it was not fair, he asked what he needed to do.

Their eyes glistened, eager for his answer. She said,

"We, the people of Aise and some others, want to live in our homeland. We need your permission for that."

He had expected something different—more like war—but their answer was sincere. He did not understand why they did not ask about the power he possessed to destroy their enemies, but only wanted to live in this forest. Though he did not know the forest fully, he gave his word.

"I am the Lord of the Endless, the possessor of the Endless Moon. I hereby give you and your people permission to live on my land as long as you like."

Their faces seemed relieved, and everyone appeared happy. Soon, they asked if they could depart to inform their people. He asked out of curiosity,

"Going out into the forest where your enemies previously attacked—is that safe for you all?"

They replied,

"After your mana filled the land, they will never dare enter here. Our people are nearby, so they will probably arrive within two days. Thank you."

And with that, they left.
