The podcast has wrapped, and I can't believe we just announced the name of our baby for the entire Celestial Realms to hear.
That same baby coos in my arms, her black eyes and sweet face occupying my entire world at the moment. She is my world.
"Della Daiyu Foxspirit Thomas," I say, testing out the name.
Dad beams. "That has a lovely ring to it. Thank you for honoring your grandmother."
"Honestly, it was Daji's idea," I say. "But instead of Adella, we thought 'Della' would be cute, and we added Daiyu, which means 'black jade,' as the middle name as nod to a very popular and controversial heroine in The Dream of the Red Chamber."
Mom smiles. "That sounds perfect. Della Daiyu Foxspirit Thomas. It's certainly fitting. Hello, little Della."
