Chapter 216 - 216 - Can't say...

*

"Nevermind that... Magical girl, miss...

My parents and my classmates are at my home, I need to keep them safe!" (Faramicia)

"... Alright, then let's chat as we head back." (Sariel)

She spoke softly as she turned towards where Faramicia pointed. Her steps were light but also quick, truthfully she can just teleport there instantly, but revealing your skill to a stranger isn't a great idea. Just because she's a magical girl or that she fought vampires and wanted to protect her loved ones, didn't mean she wasn't belligerent. This could all be a front, a trap set by the heavenly king. Think about it, how likely would someone actually awaken as a magical girl in the middle of a disaster?

Isn't it unfair to those that didn't awaken and died gruesome deaths at the hands of the Traces? It's more likely this is some Trace disguised as a magical girl. However her suspicions were unfounded. Faramicia ran into her own house with hurried footsteps, tears in her eyes as she hugged the classmate who happened to be the nearest, Arugawa.

"Faramicia!?" (Arugawa)

It happened to be the worst possible candidate, the classmate universally referred to as disgusting by the female classmates and others in the student body. Though none of his usual antics surfaced, and he quizzically yelped in surprise.

"... Faramicia?" (Sariel)

"Y-Yeah?" (Faramicia)

He didn't notice. Sariel thought to herself. She almost gave her own identity away. Though with this, it's at least verifiable that the mysterious girl before her wasn't an enemy in disguise. She knew who Faramicia was after all, they were classmates. After all the celebrating was over, stunned Arugawa and all, Faramicia walked over to Sariel.

"... I've talked to my friends and family. I'm ready to be put to work, I can't in good conscious let this apocalypse continue." (Faramicia)

"... Well let's rest for now." (Sariel)

"Ah, eh? Well, yes. You must be tired, come in. Sorry, I thought we would head back into it right away..." (Faramicia)

"... I was living normally up until recently like the rest of you. I don't know where the mastermind is either, or how to stop him. I can only do what I can do. " (Sariel)

Faramicia makes an expression of biting into something bitter, she was completely lost and expecting direction from this senior who had saved her. Just then, another girl walked into the house.

" Ah... You're here. You could have at least knocked." (Sariel)

"Huh? Ah?! Sorry, I thought the house was already abandoned. And that you were resting by yourself.

My senses got scrambled battling that wyvern, moving in all 3 directions was tiring." (Arin)

She took a few steps then collapsed on the nearby couch. Naturally, no one minded. Without Sariel and Arin to intercept, the wyverns couldn't be taken down by the military alone, not to mention the soldiers were no longer around to at least distract the Traces. At the current moment with two A grade magical girls present, this might be the strongest concentration of humanity's forces. The sentinels were spread out, helping as many zones as they could. Some of them were even incapacitated by the magic missiles.

Some time passed and Arin settled in. The threats in residential zone 2A were eliminated, it might have been the safest place on earth. Fate wasn't fair in that it unjustly granted this region 2 A grade magical girls, whereas other zones needed to share 1 with 99 other zones.

"I can't solve it on my own. I wish I could, but if I tried I would just be wasting my life. We need more trump cards, multiple more ways to solve this problem." (Arin)

She stared at the cup of tea in her hands, her back hunched over as her elbows rested on her thighs. Her thoughts brewed in the tea, swirling and swirling without an end in sight. As usual, it was hard to decipher what she was chewing over. Lastia knew, but she let Arin run free, even after identifying Arin as the perpetrator that casted the curse.

Would Sariel have been able to do the same? Could she forgive such a thing so easily? As if it was a trivial issue, like stealing food from the fridge. It didn't warrant mention, but these two have an indescribable bond that enabled such a thing to happen. Half hearted cursing, flippant forgiving, it's as if the world mattered little and whatever arose as a consequence from the curse was just a matter of fact that could be embraced without any qualm.

"Arin..." (Sariel)

Arin looks into Sariel's greyish turquoise eyes with her own vibrant sapphire blue. Arin had long straight hair, like a princess out of a book. She had a mischievous streak to her, always messing with Lastia and Sariel by extension. Even so she was always making these composed expressions like right now, she exuded elegance and intelligence. Her lips pursued for a moment, her slightly coarse voice pushed out of her throat.

"I can't say anymore than that. It would only be a detriment." (Arin)

If Arin formulated the plan, her enemies could read the plan and read her craft, detecting her involvement. If she told Sariel too much, she might be influenced into a making a similar manner of thought as Arin, exposing Arin's presence too. She had to cautiously diffuse what she deemed was safe to share.

She's connected to the heavenly kings? Pulling her thoughts together, Sariel begins to inspect some of the intricate ties known only to the trio. The first heavenly king was The Observer, a transdimensional entity that acted on observation and altered reality with observation, with an energy type superior to magical energy. We can theorise all want on how that eldritch energy might just be a form of magical energy that's more refined, or has been through some unknown biological process in the deepest pits of that being. Dress it in all the nicest words we want, but if not for its absurdity, it's essentially an animal.

The Super Satellite Calamity is a natural force of the universe, coalesced into an immortal machine. It hides its core in another dimension just like hwo the current enemy is hiding in another dimension... Right, so all of these beings didn't have their own special subdimension to hide their core, eye, or whatever else. They all simply came from the same place... An animal, a machine, and now a person...

Think about it, how has the age of abundance went on unhindered with these fearsome beings? One can argue that abnormal beings like Lastia and Arin have appeared throughout the ages, and their influence might have helped fend off these threats and even keep them off the history books. This might have something tied to the age of mystery, something occurred that possibly weakened these beings to the current state.

The animal and machine couldn't pose a threat, and the person has been gathering their strength to build armies for thousands of years. Now, are there any more heavenly kings?
