"Captain." A gentleman detached himself from a nearby group, bringing a handshake along. "I was… um… surpris to receive a message from your foreman, particularly after learning you had already met with Monsieur Beauchamp."
Ah, the second perfumer. He took the handshake. "Mr Viremont. I believe you are as versed in the trade as he."
The man's face lightened. "I am most gratified by the opportunity." With a courteous inclination, he withdrew.
A bell chimed.
"Ah—please, we go now. Dinner, it waits for no one, hein?" He laughed softly and gestured for the others to follow.
Conversation gathered itself and began to flow toward the dining room. Mr Beauchamp turned, already offering his arm to his wife.
Brand turned, and Madelyn placed her hand upon his sleeve, then he led them after the small crowd beneath the archway and into the dining room.
