"Nothing."
As Alex snapped back to the moment, he quickly noticed how close they were on the bed. Only an inch away from each other's faces.
"Alex, come on. Be honest with mommy. It's not like I'm going to bite you or anything."
"Okay, fine. I was just thinking about how lucky I am to have such a kind, beautiful mom taking care of me."
"Don't bootlick me like that."
Despite saying that out loud, her face held up a smile as if she was encouraging him to say more.
"I'm not bootlicking. I'm just telling the truth... Ahem, Mom, I'm a little hungry right now."
Alex quickly shifted the topic, his mind trying to come up with an excuse for both of them to leave the bed.
"Hungry? Here, let Mommy feed you..."
Watching Katherine slowly unbutton her pajamas, Alex was stunned. He had never expected her to take them in that direction, yet no words came out of his lips.
"Let Mommy spoil you today, okay? You had been such a good boy yesterday..."
