Chapter 71 - 71 its about time

Sorry for the late chapter. Ibreally had no idea how to continue from the last point .........

..................................

It was dark, but not black. There was the light of the full moon lighting the land.

Wishhh

Leaves and duff kicked up as a streak of orange cut through the grey silver night.

Richard had his wand in his hand, gripped tightly enough to snap a normal wand.

He was going to kill Pettigrew.

Everything that happened, happened because of that weasle. And he'd be damned if he let that thing escape.

He was already ready to kill it before he went back in time, but now? Nothing was going to hold him back from turning that coward into minced meat.

BANG!

Richard paused for a moment and looked at the shack from far, to see it explode its entire front.

From where he was, he could see clouds of dementors floating there like pure darkness.

He held his wand up, where crimson magic gathered.

'Transfix'

The bolt flew up, then abruptly changed directions.

'That way'

Richard changed his path as well. Transfix locks onto someone no matter the distance, or direction, following the shortest possible distance. It was dark magic. But Richard didnt give a shit.

'Transfix'

Another red bolt flew, and Richard shot forward. Hr could see the area where the bolt shot towards, and as he moved with inhuman speeds, he saw sparks and a brief flash light just from where the spell should land.

Either it hit, or Pettigrew had blocked it. But that didnt matter.

"Flamenscindo!"

The cut was fast enough to leave nothing but a yellow flash.

And when it faded, the forest was glowing in ember lines and white smoke.

Thud thug crash! Bang!

Trees fell like dominos, and Richard held his wand towards the smoke and mist that obscured his vision.

'Transfix'

Pew

Spark

It was there. Richard was right. The brief flash confirmed his guess. Pettigrew had found a way to block his spell.

Whip-crack

And he was not just defending. Richard moved his wand just in time to catch a spell by the wand tip, then side stepped in time to dodge another that followed.

It was silent again.

Hmph

Richard waved his wand and the smoke dispersed. He had reached a level where he could use his thoughts alone to do simple magic, like all those great wizards. He wasn't interested in playing games.

The smoke cleared, and Richard brought his wand curving down in the same motion, as the wand tip burned with angry red at the figure of the balding man who held his wand slightly off from Richard.

Yet as he moved, in that boosted state, Richard noticed something. The clouded expression on Pettigrew's face, and the sudden sound of robes from behind him. His future vision flashed him a warning. A second that showed him a blade, and blood.

The angry red switched to a pale green at the tip of his wand.

"Consequor Muto!"

The spell left Richard's wand. It hit Pettigrew. And Richard turned around with a sword materializing in his other hand, stabbing towards the origin of the sound with inhuman speed.

It sunk into a black shadow without resistance, then the shadow stabbed down.

Red mixed with the dirt, as the blade drove straight through Richards neck.

The man moved his hand. And the blade dragged to left, then to right cutting Richards bleeding throat from ear to ear.

Then he stepped back. Flowing through the blade as if it was not even there. The silver was not even touched with red. It was as if he was never there.

The shadow slowly turned solid. In the way smoke might turn into a sheet of cloth. And the leaves under the robes crunched, as it took a step back, letting the bleeding body fall.

It hit the ground with a thud. And blood turned the earth moist.

The robes now clung to a body that seemed gaunt, and red eyes peaked through the hood of the robe. They weren't moving at random. They were looking at the fallen body, which was sparking in green from time to time.

The man kicked the body, turning the now fat body to its side, and turned towards where confounded Pettigrew had stood a second before.

"Of course." The figure's teeth showed as he curled his lips. "Should have guessed this guy already knew half the dark magic .."

Where he had his gaze, there was a man standing. A part of the man's body was fat, bald and big while the other part that was growing was smaller, and had a thick blond mop, with eyes that burned in molten orange.

Whip

The figure dodged on instinct, as something flew from behind him, towards the changing person's hand.

Richard gripped his wand in his hand as his body bubbled and warped, expelling every bit of Pettigrew who bled to death at the hooded man's feet.

His wand was pointed at the man in the robes who once again turned into an ethereal shadow.

Richard looked at him. Truly looked at him, because they were holding onto that unspoken bit of silence, where they were both waiting for something.

"Are you here to kill me? Did you come from the future?" Richard asked as he saw the shadow taking out his blade. While his voice remained calm, lacking every bit of heat he had last time, his mind was racing . He saw the shadow react to his words. And he asked a question.

"Are you 'death'?"

They were both silent for a single tense moment.

"So you knew?"

"I did." Richard replied. He Knew because he had made it so. But he didnt intend to reveal that." I have been waiting for you to show up. You and I..we are fated to collide. It has only been a question of when."

There could be only one god for a story.

The shadow chuckled. "Is that so? Did that scatter brained seer tell it to you? Or did you see it yourself? That's how you dodged my attack was it not?"

"So you do know me." Richard held his wand tighter. "Did you memorize my future autobiography?"

This was the inherent disadvabtage of facing someone who returned from the future. The gap in knowledge.

The man chuckled. His voice seemed to come from everywhere,a s if it was not just him, but dozens of others speaking .

"Maybe. " the man replied. " What was that your envy based spell? Did you already make spells for the seven fundamental dark magic paths?"

Richard didn't answer. He had though. And his silence seemed to confirm the wizard's guess.

"Damn, you really are a monster, aren't you."

There was no more need to talk.

The shadow held the blade as he floated, while Richard shifted to his dueling stance.

Outside, he heard the sound of a loud howl, and his grip on the wand tightened. Lupin was already out as well.

"That's the werewolf isn't it."

The man seemed to notice it as well. "Perfect timing. That loony girl should be out here soon. You know, I was worried when I used her for bait. And I'm glad you fell for it."

Richard's nostrils flared as he crunched his face in anger. This guy..he was going to die. Richard aimed his wand at the shadow . His wand was already burning with with red sparks.

From now on, it was him against Richard.
