Chapter 68 - 68 silver piñata

Richard gripped his wand. There was nothing he couldn't kill if he wanted to. Until he met this bastard.

"I'm going to kill you today." Richard remarked with menace as he activated projection magic, creating a bigger, better replica of the sword of Gryffindor, while staring into the creature's pitch black nightmare cavities without flinching even the slightest. "I'm going to cut you into a thousand pieces first, and if that doesn't work.."

Whoomph

The enhancement hit his body like a tide, and the sword in Richard's hand glowed red like fire, where the magic claimed them both in a power of a raging minotaur

Crack!

The air split from the sheer speed the sword swing.

Trees split, walls split. Even the earth was carved deep enough to make a massive scar for hundreds of meters.

But.....Richard looked at the ruined pieces of black with contempt, as they came together like that magic meant nothing to them.

Wooshhhh....

A freezing wind blew past him, making everything freeze over. Frost started to gather over his body despite the impressive heat that practically radiated outwards.

"Tch.."

He gripped the sword harder. And the dementors came towards him like a flashflood.

Back at the shack, the two professors and one convict were all experienced in fighting the darkness. While dementors hounded the dreams of others be they pure or guilty, they were more real, and more familiar to these three who had dealt with them during the rise and rule of the dark lord.

"""Expecto patronum!""""

A doe, a cat and a dog made of pure silver mist bounded outwards to meet the swarm of black shades that dropped towards them like hail.

But these were not evenly matched.

The hail of black split away from the silver light like it was poison, not even daring to come close to the light of the three glowing beasts as they moved like quicksilver protecting the children within.

"This thing works wonders." Despite being relatively fresh out of Azkeban and severely traumatized, Sirius felt prepped and ready to go, just like he had in his hey day. "Never thought anyone besides a Dumbledor would have a Phoenix."

His wonder was directed to the glowing fire bird that had its transparent fire like wings spread over them like a shield, protecting them from the cold and giving them a rush of energy they didnt know they needed.

"That isn't a phoenix, Mr Black." Hermione answered while the professors were tongue tied. "Thats magic. "

They had never expected the new magic Richard developed to be so..magical.

They were still lying on the ground from the effects of the dementors, though none of the three were shivering anymore. And with professor McGonagall inspecting them while Snape produced a potion, none of them were in any immediate danger.

"We need to go after Pettigrew."

Harry was already on his feet. He looked desperate. Even as he wobbled at his knees, he tried to follow to a vague direction to which he believed the traitor had disappeared.

Tried, but he failed.

"Hold your horses, kid." It was Sirius who caught him before he hit the ground. "You and I we are not going anywhere right now."

"But he killed my parents! He betrayed them!"

Before he could yell, Sirius pulled him into a hug. Harry struggled, because he didnt want to hug a stranger, because he didnt want to hug someone who had just appeared out of nowhere, because he believed he could catch his parents killer. But he couldn't amount to much. Even though he had summoned his own patronus, it wasn't really effective. it wasn't corporeal. And all it had done was leaving him drained.

He heard Sirius talking,

"Believe me kid, no one wants him dead than me, but we can't do anything right now."

He could feel Sirius shaking. And the two professors looked tired as well. Despite the magic of their patronus roaming around, there were still hundreds of dementors who waited at the edges where their light didn't reach.

As Harry finally relented, and stopped, Sirius let him down slowly, and slowly lowered himself down on the worn and aged wooden floor.

"Where's that Richard anyway. Can't he put some more effort into this magic or-"

CRACK

A gunshot like sound made all six of them whip towards the origin of the sound.

"....no.."

A whisper of exclaim escaped from McGonagalls lips as they all witnessed a massive wave of black crash to the piece of roof where Richard stood.

There wasn't even a second for anyone to react, when the red glow disappeared in the swarm of darting black.

The shadows stopped flowing, and began swirling like a malestorm as it fell into itself.

And no one spoke. Not until Harry staggered up to his feet and pointed his wand at the swarm of dememtors even with his feet still wobbling.

"Expecto patronum!"

The silver mist that gathered at the tip of his wand barely managing to form a shield.

"It's useless Potter. Your friend is already dead." Despite the harsh words, Snape's tone lacked the usual bite." Even if he isn't, none of us has the ability to save him now"

The silver dog Sirius created was long gone, and both the cat and the doe were barely holding on from the hundreds of dementors. Neither Snape nor McGonagall were prepared to face this number of dementors.

"He's still there!" Hermione screamed suddenly ,as if though she had spotted something. And she yelled with her finger pointed at the center of the male storm,"I saw it. You have to save hi-"

"You didn't see anything, little girl." Snape snapped back. He was already at his own ends. And he did not have time to waste on a child's hopeful fantasies.

"No, Harry, He's there! " McGonagall was stunned when Ron yelled next to her.

"Mr Weasley, are you-"

"Harry, You have to trust us! He's in there"

Harry looked at the mass of swirling dementors, who moved like piranha's, and then back at his friends.

"I believe you"

In that moment something happened. In that single moment, Harry felt his friends clearer than ever. Their belief in him.

A connection that felt more real and as magical as the silver patronus and the glowing orange bird that gave them warmth, that existed at that moment between them alone.

"Expecto Patronum."

Except this time, it wasn't him. It was Hermione, whose eyes were glazed over as silver streams escaped from her wand.

They didnt have the strength to form a shape, instead they flowed towards Harry who ran forward while shaking off Sirius and Snape's grabbing hands, with his hands glowing in white silver flames.

He brought those same hands forward the moment he left the fire bird's wingspan , and a blast of brilliant white shot from his hands like a lightning bolt to the mass of dementors.

For a moment the swarming stopped.

For a moment, the whole world froze as they all held their breath in hope.

Then the dementors collapsed inwards again.

"Harry.."

Sirius stood up and hobbled towards Harry. There was surprise in his face, just as there was on others, but it was quickly wiped off by sorrow.

"Harry its not-"

"HA HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!"

What ever he was about to say was swallowed along with his saliva as a mad cackle erupted from the center of the malestorm of black.

For a second time, everyone froze. Did they dare to hope?

Hope arrived like the sun, burning their retinas as it shone through the thick darkness of the shades who scattered faster than the Weasly twins when they hear the sound of Filch's dragging steps.

Richard stood there, with one hand clasped around something, though it was too bright to see what.

"Did you truly think you could end me?" No one knew who Richard was talking to, or what he was talking about. But he himself had seem to have gone nuts, as the stoic student who never even joined quidditch laughed with his mouth wide open.

"DID YOU THINK I WOULDN'T PREPARE TO RIP YOU APART THE NEXT TIME I SAW YOU VEIL LESS?"

Only then did their eyes finally capture what he was talking to as he brought it up. A Dementor, clutched by its throat and thrashing around like a fish out of water as it got dragged closer to the light.

It opened its mouth, but it still struggled clawing at Richards hands that gripped them without moving.

"You know, from the first time you tried to suck my soul out on our train ride together, I always wanted to shove something down that wide mouth of yours."

At that moment, Sirius's face blanched, maybe he imagined something else because his face turned from emotionless to fear to a look one might give to a crazy man.

But Richard didnt care. He gripped the glowing bishop piece in his hand and used his other hand to clench the jaw of the dementor open.

"Open wide ,hag face"

The next moment, before they could even process what was happening, Richard shoved his entire fist down the dementor's mouth.

It was silent once again

This time, from sheer speechless emotions running through everyone's minds.

And then, Richard pulled his hand out of the dementors mouth with a disgusted expression, while holding the dementor who was bloating like it was getting pumped with helium.

As they, and the hundreds of dementors watched it grew wider and wider at its midsection until it blew up into silver glitter with a nice and tame 'Pop".
