In the dead of night, in the Middle Eastern Desert, inside an abandoned tank, Xiao Mo was still awake.
A shadow flashed past outside the tank, and Xiao Mo quickly became alert, because only three of them had come together; Monica was still sleeping beside her, and a minute ago, Alita was still in her tent, so who was that extra figure?
Xiao Mo felt a surge of doubt and quickly pushed open the hatch to crawl out. The campfire outside the tank was still burning as she turned her head to look toward Alita's tent.
The tent that had been lit just moments ago was now pitch dark. Xiao Mo jumped down from the tank and ran quickly toward the tent.
"Alita, are you asleep?"
After calling twice without receiving a response, Xiao Mo reached to open the tent door, only to find it empty—Alita was gone.
