Wang Kui acted like he hadn't heard a thing. He'd finally gotten himself a wife—how could he not dote on her?
With a creak, he pushed the door open. "Wifey, I brought you something to eat. Have a little first so you don't go hungry."
Yang Qiu was sitting there, not moving at all, just waiting for Wang Kui to come back at night. She hadn't expected him to return so soon, and even bringing her food. Her heart warmed instantly.
Wang Kui closed the door and set the food on the table. Seeing that Yang Qiu made no sound, he walked over. "Wifey, you must be hungry. I brought you a chicken leg."
Seeing Yang Qiu with the red veil over her head, he suddenly realized that without lifting it, she pretty much couldn't eat.
Just then, Yang Qiu spoke up. "H-husband, I can't eat yet. I have to wait until the veil is lifted tonight."
"..."
Her words made Wang Kui's heart ache. He thought that this veil was really getting in the way—keeping his wife from eating and making her go hungry.
