February 5, 1799.
Beside a forest in the eastern part of Hesse-Kassel.
Suart raised the long branch in his hand, squinted for a moment, nodded in satisfaction, and then began to tie a string to the thinner end of the branch.
A handcrafted fishing rod quickly took shape.
As he started to install the hook, a staff officer came running from behind, stood at attention and said, "General, the Prussian Army arrived at the western outskirts of Kolbach this morning."
"Hmm, I see." Suart nodded, swinging the fishing rod to test its feel.
Sitting to his right and compelled to fish, Lieutenant Colonel Lannes tossed away the can of worms, stood up excitedly: "General, let's launch an attack immediately!"
Suart, however, smiled and pulled him back: "No, our task today is fishing."
Lannes was instantly anxious: "But if we delay any longer, the Prussians will occupy Kassel!"
