"I'm heading into demon territory tonight. Wanted to let you know in case something goes wrong."
She set down her papers. "Demon territory. The Infernal Quarter?"
"Yes."
"That's bold. Stupid, but bold." She stood, moving around the desk. "Asmodeus doesn't take kindly to outsiders operating in his domain. What are you retrieving?"
"A book. Client's paying six figures."
She whistled low. "That's serious money. Must be a serious book."
"Probably."
She studied me for a moment. "You've changed. Again. Not in power this time, but in... presence. You walk differently. Talk differently. Like you've stopped asking permission to exist."
"I have."
"Good. The cautious version of you was getting boring." She moved closer, her hand sliding up my chest. "When this job is done – assuming you survive – we should discuss what happens next between us."
