Lingtuo looked at the photograph of himself and remained silent for a long time, feeling a twinge of sadness in his heart again. She no longer loved the him of five years ago, so the current him—so terrible—she must dislike even more.
He felt increasingly undeserving of her.
She was young, smart, beautiful, and there were lines of people who liked her. What else did he have to attract her, just because he raised her?
No, he never wanted to use this to bind her love. He raised her because he liked her and taking care of her made him feel happy. She accepted it passively at the time, being so young, without the right to refuse.
If he used the fact that he raised her to force her back to his side, asking for repayment or anything, he believed it would be a very rogue approach.
The more he thought, the more he felt inferior. Sadness came in waves, like the relentless tide, as if it wanted to drown his entire being.
