Queen Zorvanna rested with her legs folded beneath her, suspended above the black stone floor by the powerful curve of her tail. Its lower length coiled upon the dais, supporting her weight while her hands lay open on her knees.
Moonlight followed the crimson scales along her cheeks and shoulders. Long black hair hung down her back, stirring against the pale silk draped over her body, and her great horns swept back above a face entirely at peace.
Below the terrace, harbor lights shone between the rooftops. She breathed in, held, and slowly released.
The doors slammed open behind her.
"I want my company back."
Zorvanna finished her breath.
"Good evening to you as well, Veshara."
The copper-scaled captain strode between the pillars, her tail swinging behind her with considerably less restraint than the queen's.
"I've had enough of inspecting crates and listening to merchants whine. After what I did today, I deserve to be reinstated."
"Tell me about the wand."
