JASMINE'S POV
'How's this possible? Why is this happening? No no nooooooo' I shouted with hot tears streaming down my cheeks
"Baby, are you okay? Talk to us" Mum said as she rushed into the room with Aunt Victoria
"Yes dear, talk to us" Aunt Victoria said
I just sat on the floor crying uncontrollably. I didn't know how I was to tell Aunt Victoria that her beloved son is actually a bully who's made life a living nightmare for her best friend's daughter
The thought of becoming Jayden's personal maid made me cry even more
I couldn't bring myself to say the truth so I just said the first lie that came to my mind after wiping my tears
"It's nothing mum. I read a really bad news online that's all" I said hoping they would believe me
"Are you sure dear? What news did you read about?" Aunt Victoria asked
"One of my favourite poets was said to have committed suicide" I said
"Ooh no. I'm sorry about that dear" Aunt Victoria said
"Are you sure that's the reason baby?" Mum asked
I knew she wouldn't believe me so easily
"Yes mum, that's the reason" I answered her
"What did you mean by 'i can't do this' then" mum asked again
"I was emotionally unstable then and had no idea what I was saying. I'm sorry for making you all worry so much" I said with an apologetic look on my face
"It's okay dear, as long as you're okay" Aunt Victoria said caressing my cheeks lovingly
"Come on, let's go back to the dining area" Mum said and pulled me out of the room before I could say anything else
Going back to the dining room meant seeing Jayden again. I have to prepare myself mentally in order to avoid our mums suspecting that something's wrong
We got to the dining area and Jayden was no where to be found. I immediately breathed a sigh of relief. I didn't even realise I had been holding my breath until I realised Jayden had left
"Young master left after finishing dinner. He said he was tired and needed to rest" the maid who was assigned to the dining area said immediately we entered the dining area
"Ooh okay, but he should have waited for us to come back before leaving" Aunt Victoria said
"It's okay Auntie, he was probably really tired that's why he left without seeing you" I said trying to reason with her
"I guess you're right. We'll chat tomorrow then. You both also need to rest, it's been quite a long and stressful day" Aunt Victoria said
"Good night ma" I said
"Goodnight sweetheart, good night" Aunt Victoria said and hugged my mum before heading up to her room
We finished dinner and some maids came over to clear the table after we stood up. Mum and I wanted to help but the maids stopped us. We were persistent but they said they would get into trouble if the Madam found out so we just had to let them do it
Mum and I went to our room. We had our shower and sat on the bed in preparation for our devotion
Yes, we're Christians, very devoted ones at that
We both knelt down while holding hands then mum said a short prayer, we pecked each other good night then we went to bed
'Father, why is this happening? Why did I have to encounter Jayden? Why did he have to target me as his prey? Why am I living under the same roof as he is?' I asked all these questions in my mind hoping for an answer till I fell asleep
THE NEXT DAY
Mum and I got up as early as 5:00am for our morning devotion. We were surprised when Aunt Victoria also came to join us.
"How you feeling now dear?" Aunt Victoria asked after the devotion
"I'm much better now auntie" I replied her with a really big smile on my face so she doesn't suspect I'm lying
"That's good then. Breakfast will be served at 7:00am" Aunt Victoria said before leaving for her room
"Are you sure you're okay baby?" My mum asked
"Yes mum I'm perfectly fine" I replied her
"If you say so then. I'll go have my bath now" Mum said
"Okay mum. I'll tidy up the bed while you're at it" I said
IN THE DINING ROOM
"Good morning mum" Jayden said and gave his mum a peck on her cheek
"Good morning baby. Did you sleep well?" Aunt Victoria asked
"Yes mum. My night was superb" Jayden replied and smirked at me
I felt cold shivers down my spine immediately he did that. In that moment, all I could do was pray inwardly that the ground beneath me would just open up and swallow me whole. But I knew deep down that it was just my wishful thinking
"Good morning auntie" Jayden said to my mum
"Good morning sweetie. Good to know you slept well" Mum replied
"Can we have breakfast now?" Jayden asked and made a puppy face
"Sure, let's say a quick prayer before eating though" Aunt Victoria said
"Thank you lord for this food, provide for all those who don't have and continue to provide for us as well. Amen" Jayden said
"Amen" We all chorused at the same time and started eating
"Hey mum, when am I getting a replacement?" Jayden suddenly asked and I almost choked on my food
"Ooh, I wanted to tell you about it last night over dinner but you said you were tired and went to bed" Aunt Victoria said
"Ooh, last night, I was really tired and I couldn't wait for you to get back. I'm so sorry mum" Jayden said
"No problem baby. Anyways, Jasmine here, volunteered to be your personal maid" Aunt Victoria said
Before, I concluded it was my wishful thinking but now, deep down in my heart, I'm praying for God to just miraculously make me disappear from here right now
"Really? When does she start?" Jayden asked with a wicked smirk on
"When would you like to start Jasmine dear?" Aunt Victoria asked
"Uhm, whenever you want me to start auntie" I replied nervously
"Start now" Jayden said
"What??" I asked suprised
"I'm done with breakfast mum. I have some work to do up in my room" Jayden said and got up to leave
"Okay dear" Aunt Victoria said
"Come up to my room in 5 minutes" Jayden said to me before leaving
"Mee?" I asked again
"Don't mind him dear, finish your breakfast and then go to him when you're done" Aunt Victoria said
"Okay auntie" I replied and we continued eating
After eating breakfast, we all left the dining room. I headed back to our room while mum and aunt Victoria went out to the garden. I couldn't stop thinking about what Jayden said
'Come up to my room in 5 minutes'
"I can do this. We're in the house so he can't harm me right? I might actually get a chance to discipline him a little" I said to myself with a wide grin as I thought of the perfect plan to 'discipline' him
I then changed my clothes and went upstairs to find Jayden's room
"Why exactly are you looking around my house like a thief?" Jayden suddenly said after appearing behind me like a ghost and I flinched immediately
"No, I was loo..looking for your room and I ki....kind...kinda got lost in the process" I said stuttering
"Follow me" Jayden said and I had no choice but to follow like an obedient puppy
"Rule number one, stay away from me at all cost" Jayden suddenly said and I accidentally bumped into him coz I was walking with my face down
"I'm sorry. I didn't realise when you stopped" I said and he opened the door to his room
"Rule number two, don't talk to me unless I ask you to" Jayden said
"What?????? I at least should have freedom of speech right?" I asked suprised
"I haven't started stating the punishment for breaking each of these rules, that's why you're still arguing" Jayden said and sat down lazily on his bed
I was dumbfounded
'What was he saying? Rules, punishments, the heck!'
"Nice to see you're obedient" Jayden said bringing me out of my thoughts
"What else do I have to know?" I asked
"Hand it over" he said to me with his arms stretched out
"Hand what over?" I asked confused
'Can't he be straightforward for once' I thought to myself

'What's this? Why can't I move back anymore? What does he want to do to me' I wondered shivering lightly out of nervousness
He smirked at me immediately he realised I had hit the wall. He stretched his hands and took MY PHONE
'What's his problem? Couldn't he have said it clearly that he wanted my phone? He just made me nervous for no reason at all. I wish I could hit him across the face right now' I thought to myself
"Unlock it" he said with a commanding tone as he raised my phone up to my face
"Why should I? It's my privacy" I said avoiding eye contact with him
"I'm your boss and you have to answer to me at all times. Now be a good prey and unlock it" he said with that annoying smirk of his
