Five days later…
The history teacher was droning on, when the students suddenly heard a voice booming through the speakers.
"Attention students of Ravenswood Academy! This is the proprietor speaking. I am excited to announce that we will be introducing sports and physical education activities to the school curriculum soon! Get ready to get active and show off your skills!"
The students looked at each other in surprise, some excitedly chattering about the news.
Valeria, however, just rolled her eyes and slumped further in her seat.
The history teacher, trying to regain the students' attention, asked, "Okay, class, who can tell me…"?
As the teacher droned on in history class, Valeria's eyes wandered to the ceiling. She didn't bother to take notes or participate in the discussion. Her mind was far from what he was teaching but she could still hear him.
"Valeria, can you tell me the date of the French Revolution?" the teacher asked, trying to engage her.
Valeria's gaze flicked to the teacher, her voice flat. "1789."
The teacher nodded. "That's correct, Valeria! You're absolutely right."
Everyone turned to look at her some with admiring eyes while others also had annoyed expressions but she didn't care and it didn't matter to her.
Valeria didn't usually participate in classes because most of the things that were been taught, she already knew. Her family, being extremely powerful and wealthy, always made sure that the heirs were given strict training and education to enable them become not only skillful but fearless and brutally independent.
So this was one of the reasons why Valeria didn't understand why her parents had decided to send her to this mediocre school in the first place.
…
Classes continued as usual during the remaining weeks where the study sessions went on smoothly and efficiently.
Two weeks later, an announcement was made for the Sports activities which would begin after the weekend, on a Monday. The whole week would be used for the sports and since everyone was to participate in it, the entire weekend was to be used for training.
It was not just any sports activity but was rather a sports competition.
Every class had to participate in it because it was going to be added to their class assessments and personal grades, so they couldn't afford to not participate in it.
During the weekend…
The sun beat down on the school courtyard, casting a golden glow over the bustling students.
Most of the students were busying themselves practicing all kinds of sports that ranged from basketball, baseball, football to volleyball and other sports. However, other students who were not training had gathered themselves in groups chatting, gossiping and chuckling amongst themselves.
Some of the girls had also formed small groups looking on and gossiping about how hot the males looked, and now their eyes stared dreamingly at a particular male student who was playing football.
Valeria's striking figure leaned against a nearby wall, her porcelain white skin and raven-black hair glowed under the sunshine making her look lovely. Her eyes scanned the crowed and her gaze was fixed on the sports teams as they practiced on the field.
Her classmates had long grown accustomed to Valeria's distant demeanor, but today they noticed something different. A hint of a smile played on her lips, and her eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint. It was a subtle change, but one that spoke volumes.
As she watched, one male student, known for his arrogance and boastful claims, began to brag about his basketball skills because he had been able to defeat one of the best basketball players in the school. "I'm the best player in this school! No one can beat me. You should have know that before you tried to challenge me, punk!" he exclaimed, his voice carrying across the courtyard with menace and scorn.
